considering the task of securing a venue, the financial task of getting proper sponsors, the marketing task of promoting the event, as well as the logistic task of moving all equipment and personel to run the tournament, and the logistic task of getting hundreds of players and team official, all need to be done within a few weeks that also includes a holiday, to be honest, i am not too surprised that it is cancelled.

Well, badminton's management is getting better at one thing - cancelling :mad:
 
The Cancellation is still under consideration.. not confirm. My goodness.. anyway i do hope its cancelled. Better for my schedules too.

thats a very rare chances for people from north to witness all the top notch players in action ... In any sports..
MAS open being held in KL every year, except once in the cat city.
To be fair to MAS citizens, all international events must be held at different places, not only in KL:rolleyes:
The organizer are working hard on it to held this SS Finals, they wanna prove that not only KL can host such a BIG events :mad:

BTW, could you tell us the source of your information please... because what you have posted may have already been mentioned before (but later dismissed).

Super Series Final 2007 was cancelled

Super Series Final 2007 will begin on the 18th, not identified locations. Competition was cancelled?:confused:
 
Being postphoned to January 2008?

Really....what a very profesionnal job BWF done after all the promising to make badminton more popular.

At the beginning of 2007, this Super Series Final already been promoted by BWF as best of the best and etc etc.

BWF had almost one year to prepare and the answer is postponed to 2008.

Its better for BWF for not mentioning this Super Series Final at all than postponing to January 2008.

And if this event play in January 2008, maybe not only China will not participating.

Cause its not give you any Olympic points and at January 2008, there will be 1 or 2 events that give players crucial points for last Olympic points.

Lots of players probably will concentrate at events that had more Olympic points less money prize than lots money prize but zero points.
 
And I am still doubtful that Super Series Final 2007 will be held January 2008, probably it will be postponed..... AGAIN.

Look at tennis events.

They had twice tournaments than badmintons. But ITF and WTA managed to schedule the last tournament at mid November, giving players to had one and half months break before starting to play in January 2008.

Thats the difference between the profesional (tennis association) and semi pro (badminton association).

For example, even if the SS final is held, Team China will not attend. Then what's the point of holding a "best" tournament with only half of the world's best players?

Tennis is different. No one cares about the Olympics there. So it's easier to arrange.
 
Only one thing needs to change to make SS Finals more relevant. Give ranking points for it. Maybe points as high as WC/Olympics or one tier below.

tennis has grand slams..........:)
winning the Wimbledon is more important than the olympic and it is the most prestigious in tennis world.
