Ya... i also get 2 season ticket from my friend as he say that he get it from 1 of his banker friend. Will go there to watch the semi and final game.Wah you guy will have makanmakan after the tournament ah.. hope can join you guys also.
Any nice place to eat at Kallang Area? I'm not so familiar with that place. Hope can still play during the SO. Maybe everyone is having World Cup fever instead of Badminton Fever. Heheh
Hi Ants, which days of the SO will you be there? I will be there on weekdays as well. I don't mind squeezing in a game on weekdays except that I'm a beginner (really a beginner, not just being modest). Friday QF is afternoon only so morning is a possibility. (hoping that they'll allow cameras again this year... every year the ticket says no cameras but they allow )
I will be there from 5th until 12th. If they don't allow camera... you look for me. Anyway i also not sure weather got time to play badminton or not but i'm bringing my stuffs along. Its ok if you are a beginner.. i'm not that good either. Anyway you are the Photo Guru.. take more nice pics. Hopefully i can meet u guys together for Makan heheheh. Oh man.. i sounds like a Glutton.
ok will look for you! My first day there will be the 7th, so hopefully there will be good news from earlier days that cameras are allowed. I'm sure Loh will be there with his camera also. So if i don't recognise you, I'll go and ask Loh to introduce.
if you're looking for local hawker food, the nearest hawker centre is located at Old Airport Road. The old site is being rebuilt and the stalls are housed temporarily behind the old site. If you're looking for restaurant food, there are some restaurants next to the Indoor Stadium including the popular 'No Signboard' Chinese restaurant.
Let's Meet Guys! The Aviva Open affords us a chance to meet at least once a year for those of us BC Singapore members who do not play badminton together. Of course timing could pose a problem but if a majority of us could meet at the badminton venue, SIS, and proceed from there, then we're in business. May I suggest some common parameters: Meeting Place: Outside the main SIS entrance, where the long uncovered escalator is located. Probably the giant shuttlecock will also be used. Makan Place: Old Airport Road hawker centre as suggested by Sealman. But how to get there? Suggestion please, who drives? Lunch Dates: Possible Dates: (1)Wed 7 Jun and (2) Thu 8 Jun (after morning session for the preliminary rounds); OR (3) Fri 9 Jun QF (3pm) and (4) Sat 10 June SF (2pm), before the session starts. I personally prefer (1) and/or (2) to avoid having to rush back to the stadium. Dinner: Possible Dates (3) or (4) above, after the afternoon sessions. Fun Games: Actually we can also have some fun badminton in the afternoon (1) and (2) or in the morning of (3) and (4) or during the first two days of the qualifying rounds. Netasia may like to explore this possibility and firm up the date, time and venue for us to meet. All BC Singapore members who are interested, please indicate your preference here quickly. I'm sure No-Flash photography will continue to be allowed. Hopefully spectators will cooperate so that this privilege will not be taken from us and Storkbill can continue to display his masterpieces. In case you don't recognize Ants, here is pic that was taken during the Cheers Asian Satellite Championships 2004:
You can take bus no. 16 opposite the indoor stadium. The bus will bring you right to the hawker centre which is about 4-5 stops away from the indoor stadium.
wow this picture was a long time ago... if i'm not mistaken.. its our first time to meet up right Loh?
boy, all the talk abt the get-together and the food(makan2 part) really make me want to join you guys after all...sigh, hehe.. btw, for makan2, last yr after the QF event, i was taken and treated at this *outdoor* food market with another BF member; aih, forgot what the place was called, but i remember it having many food courts & being in the middle of the city/next to a few tall commercial bldgs. I remember being served a really nice delicacy of swordfish(cooked in some spicy sauce) and rice ...hmmmm, really2 delicious(mouth waters)..hehehe
Very true. Makes me wonder why terry is staying in Hotel 81 Marine Parade instead of the Hotel 81 chain's many hotels in Geylang, like Star, Cherry, Geylang, etc. Geylang is also near to the SIS.
this place sounds like 'Lau Pa Sat' in the financial business district.... Pak, i think u ate BBQ stingray with belachan chili... very yummy
