Hmm ... How do I get the attached photos to display inline with my commentary? Ah well ... never mind. Clicking the attachment link works for me too. Continuing ... Boonsak (in characteristic posture) had a crew cut which broke many hearts. He is popular with the young female spectators. Boonsak is looking strong for this year's Men's Single title which he had won in 2007 (beating Lin Dan en route no less). Despite his privileged background, high social status (as a qualified lawyer), high standing within the Thai national team and after his win (against China's Gao Huan), Boonsak was humble enough to do the refreshment rounds. Brother Boonsak looking out for younger sister Salakjit. Aww ...
Strange that the images are displaying alright in my 2nd batch post. Robin7 mentioned that the links in my 1st batch post are invalid, but the links do work from my PC. Maybe the administrator can do something about it. Meanwhile, I will just continue on posting the other batches ... Muhammad Hafiz Hashim (vs Andrew Smith). The less said, the better. Markis Kido partnering Lita Nurlita in Mixed Doubles. They seemed to share the same height, but otherwise no sparks here. After the match, Markis was more interested in chatting up Anastasia Russkikh.
Then the roof started to leak above Court 2 before noon (due to the massive rainstorm that morning). Court 2 out of action for a few hours. Court 3 also affected for a couple of hours. Pails and towels to contain the leak. This side of Court 2 was still slippery after action restarted though it appeared dry, as discovered by ... ... Lee Chong Wei, who played on the leak affected side in Game 2 against Frenchman Brice Leverdez and lost the game. Chong Wei (who arrived for his match much later in the evening) couldn't understand why his steps weren't so sure in the (unbeknownst to him) leak affected area. Chong Wei coming back at Brice in the 3rd game. Chong Wei obliging his fans after his win against Brice. Chong Wei (in absence of Lin Dan) is by far the most popular player with the spectators at the Singapore Open. Followed by Peter Gade, Boonsak Ponsana and Nguyen Tien Minh. Then comes any fighters/winners from the Singapore team.
The leak over Court 2 and Court 3 backlogged the schedule by about 2.5 hours. Eriko Hirose arrived in the morning for her match but didn't get to play until about 3.00 pm. Eriko caught napping meanwhile ... ... now eyes wide open vs Tai Tzu Ying (Taiwan) to whom she lost unexpectedly. Maybe Eriko shouldn't have taken the slumber earlier but, to her credit, she had started preparing (warming up) 1 hour before her match. On the other hand, New Zealander Donna Haliday (who played in Mixed Doubles a couple of hours earlier) chose to warm up only a few minutes before her Women's Doubles match, resulting in ... ... back injury. Donna plonked herself (next to guess who?) prone on her belly for a good 15 minutes with an ice pack on her lower back.
Fans of Reiko Shiota, you are right! Oblivious to Donna, Reiko pouted over the delay to her match. (In the event, Reiko's Mixed Doubles was the last match that day ending around 11.30 at night.) (Sigh) ... might as well change all my grips ... Next few photos for Reiko fans. Reiko Shiota returning to international competition; this time in Mixed Doubles partnering Shintaro Ikeda ... ... vs Bonde and Pedersen of Denmark. Alas, Reiko and Ikeda-san lost by a slim margin (25-23) in the decider game. hcyong is right. Reiko looked slimmer, but no less prettier. And when she widened her eyes like this ... kawaii ne! Reiko beaming when she won a point ... ... and pensive when she blundered.
hungle, I have only a couple of photos of Nguyen Tien Minh ... Tien Minh about to beat Wong Choong Hann. Personally, I didn't think Tien Minh's coach was of much help to him. Tien Minh demolished Choong Hann 21-5 in the 1st game. After the coach spoke to Tien Minh during the match interval, he changed his tactics and only won the 2nd game 21-16. Tien Minh seated next to his coach after his match. From afar, they seemed to spend more time joking and laughing than analysing the other players' matches. One might have thought that they were high school buddies. hungle, what do you know about this coach guy? Peter Gade's turn. Peter's and Tien Minh's were of the 10 matches postponed to the following morning due to the backlog caused by the roof leak. The organisers did not want Round 1 to end after midnight. They went out of their way to offer full refund or free ticket for Round 2. Downside to Peter and Tien Minh was that they had to play in Round 2 later that day. Peter won but Tien Minh lost. Close up of Peter with his coach. And finally, Koo Kien Keat & Tan Boon Heong ... about to lose to a Korean pair.
..you seemed to do it correct (i can see the captions/comments under the pics). There is an "Inline" option in the Attachment mode. Hopefully kwun/mods will be able to help you sort your post #40 (the one not showing the pics); you can PM them and let them know..if not, you can re-upload them again.. ..Nguyen Tien Minh's coach is Asep Suharno (former INA player and coach, who has coached oveseas before as a matter of fact in S'pore just recently).. http://english.vietnamnet.vn/sports/201002/HCM-City-hires-top-coach-893096/
