I was hoping that hcyong would start this thread as he normally does a good job of it. However, I shall shoulder part of his load and comment on some of the possible outcomes of Day 1, Round 1 of the Tournament proper:

    MS

Lin Dan (CHN) should beat Shyam Gupta (IND)
Jang Young Soo (KOR) shd bt Pei Wei Chung (MAS)
Wong Choong Hann (MAS) shd bt Juergen Koch (AUT)
Ronald Susilo (SIN) shd bt Andrew Dabeka (CAN)
Hafiz Hashim (MAS) shd bt Hoachim Persson (DEN)
Yeoh Kay Bin (MAS) shd bt Gong Weijie (CHN)
Ng Wei (HKG) shd bt Simon Maunoury (FRA)
Martyn Lewis (WAL) shd bt (?) Arief Rasidi (FRA)
Peter Gade (DEN) shd bt Peerasak (THA)
Shon Seung Mo (KOR) shd bt Salim Sameon (MAS)

Could someone pls add on ... especially for the more popular names and the other events like the WS and XD. Thanks :)

Well, Day 1 barely started, dude.

I think it will be interesting between Yeoh Kay Bin and Gong Weijie.

MS 1st Round best 3 matches:
    Lee CW v Chen Jin
    Boonsak v Lee HI
    Chen Yu v Sony

MS 2nd Round matches to look forward to:
Lin Dan v Jang Young Soo
    Wong CH v Ronald Susilo
Hafiz v Gong Weijie (I predict Gong to beat Yeoh)
    Peter Gade v Shon SM
Xia XZ (beat Sato) v Sony Kuncoro (beat Chen Yu)
Kenneth v Roslin (well, for the neutral, it's more interesting than Kenneth v Kendric)
I'll be there around the time the 2nd round starts ... lucky me :D

For those who will be there,
Boesen v Lee Cheol Ho may be interesting.
Also, Nguyen Tien Minh may be the start of a badminton revolution in Vietnam. If he can beat his Indian opponent, he will take on Chen Hong.

But it will be nice to see a repeat of Round One of the Athens Olympics. I'm sure Lin Dan would very much like to take revenge on Ronald who spoiled all his dreams of becoming the Olympic Champ! :D

New Delhi is GMT +5.5 hours and Singapore is GMT +8 hours. That means Singapore is 2.5 hours ahead of India. :)

The biggest upset in mixed doubles today: Seeded 7th Korean paie, Lee/Lee lost in 3 set from Chinese unseeded pair : Xie/Zhang. 15-11, 13-15,15-13

At least Xie/Zhang will make their teammate Zhang/Gao so much easier in their way to semifinal.
