Considering the fact that Pelatnas is in CANCER mode (in Indonesian, KANKER= Kantong Kering ), I guess its perhaps better for these promising club players to stay at the club first and gain some valuable experience through the various national meets (like this event and the upcoming JPGG Surabaya Satelitte). Some very good ones will definitely be sent to overseas tourneys amd achieve good results, like Purwati/Meiliana Jauhari and Rian Sukmawan/Eng Hian. I have not heard of Sinar Mutiara (from Bandung). Who are the sponsors? If they can hire Liang Chiu Hsia as a coach, their pocket is probably quite deep Not suprisingly, Pelatnas players yet again failed to get any titles...the prospect is grim
Maybe any confusion about Sinar Mutiara and Mutiara Bandung This tournament was held in Tegal, Central Java and sponsored by Sinar Mutiara, shutttle cock producer in Tegal. They also have badminton club but "only" small club, Simon Santoso (Pelatnas player) was trained in here before recruited by Tangkas. Mutiara Bandung is one big badminton club in the past, they produced some big name like Christian Hadinata & Ivana Lie before recruited by Djarum. Last few years this club sponsored by Elvana (Ivana Lie's product in sport wear) so called by Mutiara Elvana. One of the original former pelatnas player from here is Atu Rosalina, the most are from other clubs like Budi Santoso, Emma Ermawati, Enroe, Devi Sukma Wijaya, Anastasia Emaya, etc. Pelatnas usually sent the young players in national tournament, not surprisely that Pelatnas players loss to club players, usually they played in open category and against ex Pelatnas players. Djarum is the biggest club in here, they sent some players in international tournament. Hopefully the do it more, especially for junior players like in the past (they sent Haryanto Arbi to All England & European tornament). I agree that better for some young player to stay in clubs especially for single player, in my mind recently Pelatnas is better only for double players to find the best combination.
A bit off topic.. Thanks for the infos. Speaking of Djarum Badminton Club, they recently, i believe it was early this yr, when they had a grand opening of their new sports complex. I know it's quite a big complex, can almost be in competition to PBSI. Any new news from them?? BTW, sorry for asking, are you from Central Java area also??..
I believe that complex is definitely better than what they have at Pelatnas. I also heard things like Pelatnas considering to base their players at the Djarum training centre so that they will have better facilities. Can Sandy confirm whether this is true? But, with Pelatnas in CANCER mode, it's unlikely they are going to pay any rent for the facilities to Djarum
No, I lived in Jakarta but I interested to view junior players in any tournament. I found some news from newspaper website like suaramerdeka.com, solopos.net depend on where tournament was held.
I didn't see that Training Centre yet PBSI ever asked to Djarum Club to place Junior Pelatnas in there but PB. Djarum need a time to think it, didn't heard the answer until this time.
SO the rumour is true then...I guess there's nothing to gain from Djarum side if it allows the Pelatnas junior players to be trained there. So, may as well just reject the request.
