Saturn club..

Hi, I have just arrived in bkk for work... Will be here for a couple of years at least. Have heard that Saturn is a good club to play badminton in BKK. I live on Sukhumvit Soi 11 ( Nana BTS) How do I get to Saturn club from there? Is it very far/ difficult?

I am a former National player and previously ranked in the world top 50 so ideally looking for some quite advanced level players to join up with. Can you please advise which days/ times are best to join this level groups?

Greetings Raymond. Saturn Badminton Club has good players playing there that might suit you. The club is in Thonburi.From your place at Nana BTS you just have to travel to the end of the line say National Stadium. As there is no BTS across the river, the best way to travel to the club is by taxi from National Stadium or MBK. They play twice a week. The Saturday evening starts at 9.00pm and goes through the early morning like 3am. Lots of Thai provincial players also visit the club when then are in BKK and do many good players from overseas including Wong Choong Hann playing in the club ( it is somewhere in the older post)

Also in the recent postings are details of how to get there by taxi and the time of play. I have played there a few times when I do to BKK and I find the club to very friendly and hospitable. All the best and may you enjoy your badminton games in BKK.

Ok great, thanks so much.. Can I just turn up to play? Or have to book? I would like to try to go this Saturday.. Also, what other day they play? For taxi, what address I say to them? Also, my new number is: 0909073966 cheers!
 
You can turn up and play. The organisor/host is a friendly player called Mr. Anek.
The other day they play is Wednesday at 8.00pm. There is a map of how to get to My Saturn House on Page 37.

Some taxi drivers at Bangkok city centre may not necessary know how to get to the club. If that is the case, catch any taxi to Central Plaza Pinklao ( it is a huge complex). Then change to a local taxi where the taxi driver is more familiar with the local area. The courts are only 10 minutes from Central Plaza.
Once you know the way the second time, you can just catch one taxi. Please always bring the map along ( in Thai and English).

Definitely advisable to print out the map for the taxi driver.

Hi, I'm a regular badminton player from Singapore and will be visiting Bangkok on 21Feb to 25Feb 2015 and I can play any day anytime. I play MD and my partner will be here also well.

Is somerset lake point far from my saturn club playing location? Plenty of thanks for any kind advice =)
 
Most baddie goes to Thailand and forget about the game because there is so much in Bangkok to do....shopping, eating, sightseeing. However if you are keen for a game or two, Saturn is a very welcoming club. Lots of overseas players have played in that club (even the great Wong Choon Hann visiting the club).

The club is out in the suburb of Thonburi across the river. Because most Bangkok city taxi drivers are not familiar with the place, they may not want to go there as they might get lost. As such it is best you get a taxi to Central Pinklao ( which is a huge shopping centre) . Then get a local taxi ( more familiar with the local area) and show the map to the driver. It is a ten minutes ride from the courts. All in all, about 1 hour travelling time to get there but coming back from the court can be 30 minutes with less traffic.

You can contact Anek and he is a very nice host. You can download the map.
I have played there many times during my trips to Thailand and can recommend. They play MD mostly and also have a few ladies playing. Let me know if you need any further assistance.
