I think it was Ib Frediksen (pardon me if spelling is wrong) beating Morten Frost.

    Is that right?

    Right! Ib Federikson!

Also youngest could be Rudy Hartono at 18,

In Msia in the midst of euphoria youngest and seeded and unseeded can become

    Einstein's law.

Thanks to Libra finally managed to catch 2nd set.

Seems to me outcome was because :

    1) CH not very good in flat game when compared to Hafiz or Gade or Doubles players or 7 point specialists.Takes more time to execute shots.

    2) CH needs to strengthen defense esp agaist sliced, angled strokes with varying speeds.

    3) Ch gets tired faster when playing at a furious pace in mid court doubles style

    or 7 point style.

Well, that's what appears to me , correct me if I'm wrong.

    What about Hafiz ?

Chen Hong was the master of the game to 7 points as he won all england, danish open and a few others when that was the scoring. He likes 7 points because he uses his power to win 7 quick points then has a rest. he was the world number 1 under the 7 point scoring so by saying he isn't good when it is up to 7 points isn't very accurate.

Most people say he has a very poor defence esp on his backhand side as he is slow to recover and also a sucker for body smashes.
Most people beat him at the last 5 points by quickening the pace and playing flat shots double s style at this juncture.
I think I saw Gade, Roslin,Shon and Hafiz doing it to him.

He is very good though when playing own teammates.

A very fit and consistent player, though , just lacking versatility.

I think we may not see much more of him from now, he earned himself a very nice All England present.

I agree with everything but that Bbn. I think he should be able to play for a long time yet (maybe 2-3 years.) firstly because he is very efficient in his movement, and if his style is adapted to a more counter-attacking/rally style player his experience can still make him a winner. Secondly because there is no one to push the rest back. Xia is being niggled by injury, Chen Yu has never made the grade. The only two real potentials are Chen Jin and Gong weijie in the next 2-3 years. Bao/Lin have techniques and style that are not friendly to their bodies.

There are a few signs Chen hong is overcoming his deficiencies (his defence was much improved, and was more focussed and patient in AE2005). He has the solid basics that can enable him to play much longer.

I fear for Gao ling deciding to retire, for if she does, then surely he will follow.

Wasn't Gao Ling one of the players who wanted to become a coach?
