I'm afraid that won't work unless all those who voted 'Somebody else' say they mean LCW,at least a process of enumeration is required minus the anonymity, of course - there are bound to be exceptions esp when the poll is still open.

The dude Kashyaped against CL in The Dan's absence, when the entire Universe (including CL's mum) expected him to win.... Now with LD's presence do you really expect him to win??? He has as much chance as Martin Guiffre.... Had it been a SS event LCW would have probably won... Its a WC, LCW has no chance.

You never let down by the way you post your comments!! I envy your way you present your posts.. But this time I am a little hurt you totally mentally thrashed millions (including me ) praying for LCW..
(Although in some corner of my heart it is written that he can't win) but then it's optimism and hope which sustains life so I still keep my fingers crossed (being a lil ambitious ;) )

I didn't mentally thrash dude.... I am praying for Srikanth and Saina too (and also Kash, HSP and PVS); but I don't realistically expect the latter to pull it off and expect the former to fall at (guess who) LCW's altar..... Will be overjoyed if we bring home a Gold, but won't be disapponted at a 0-0-0/1 haul either, since thats realistically possible given the draw

As Justin L said a poll is about logical, rational, objectivity based on past data and not an exercise in emotional or patriotic subjectivity.

Saying South Africa wont reach ICC World Cup final or that Brazil/Germany/Spain are more likely to win the FIFA one than Iran or Senegal, isn't thrashing the latter countries.... Everyone knows in a bilateral match SA will start favourite against against everyone bar Australia and in a home friendly, Iran or Senegal could pretty well beat the best.

I think we should make things fuzzy a bit and poll for the gold, silver and bronze. For myself, I'd go for :
gold LCW
silver CL
bronze LD and Axelsen

Given the draw your prediction is impossible, only one of CL and Axelsen can get a medal since they will play each other in QF (if they progress that far).

Yes, I did not look at the draw. Then Axelsen has no chance to get a medal.

For the most cases this will be the case, but not for all; that's the point I was trying to make. ;)

Hope:
Gold: Lee Chong Wei
Silver: Chen Long
Bronze: Lin Dan (If both LCW and LD get through quarters they will meet in semis)

Realistic
Gold: Chen Long
Silver: Jan O Jorgensen/Lin Dan
Bronze: Kento Momota/Lee Chong Wei

Absolutely!!! This is why I am eager to know if any of them achieve a near 40% in the polls!!
My call is still CM but with so many of us posting about her injurious WSX/SN/LXR stands a very good chance...
I can bet its not TTY (although she is very fit physically).. And if SN gets a medal itz sure RI won't be in the finals.. And if WSX pulls her nightmare QF she'll win it all...
Ahhh so many prophecies and believe me each of us have their own!!
Only a poll will give us a rough picture

It's exactly 1 decade that China MS players top WC podium, the last time non CHN MS bagged this prestigious title was Taufik Hidayat, 10 years ago, 2005 Anaheim IBF World Championships.

According to WC past result stats, only three nations had won MS title so far :

China (13 times) : Han Jian (1985), Yang Yang (1987, 1989), Zhao Jianhua (1991), Sun Jun (1999), Xia Xuanze (2003), Lin Dan (2006, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013), Chen Jin (2010), Chen Long (2014)

Indonesia (6) : Rudy Hartono (1980), Icuk Sugiarto (1983), Joko Suprianto (1993), Hariyanto Arbi (1995), Hendrawan (2001), Taufik Hidayat (2005)

Denmark (2) : Flemming Delfs (1977), Peter Rasmussen (1997)

We'll see whether MS World Champion will still coming from one of those above three countries or player from another nation will emerge in this year edition :)
