Pickleball is a relatively new game. It is played on a badminton-size court with a paddle that is about twice the size of a tabletennis paddle. The ball is about the size of a tennis ball but is made of plastic with about 26 small holes. The game can be regarded as a mix of tennis and badminton. It is highly popular amoung seniors in the southern US. Whereas to play good badminton you have to be young, agile, and possess quick footwork, pickleball can be played aggressively by young and old. As a badminton player, I now also play pickleball and I must say: I like it a lot, although I normally loose against players with experience in tennis.
At present, pickleball is played in the US, Canada, Germany and Singapore.

Pickleball is a sport described as "a combination of Ping-Pong, tennis, and badminton", played in schools, parks and recreation centers, correctional facilities, camps, and retirement communities mostly in North America. It uses a simplified combination of tennis rules and strategies. The United States of America Pickleball Association (USAPA) calls it the "fastest-growing sport in America", although this claim is disputed by some.

    Hi Robin7,

To me, only the paddle reminds me of tabletennis. The underhand serve and counting mimicks badminton; the height of the net is like in tennis. Pickleball has two distinct rules of its own: 1)there is a no volley zone, and 2} the 2-bounce rule.
