It's not about being fanciful. It's about team uniformity, it's about image. When you see a team arriving in all different clothings compared to one in all a standard wear, I believe you 'll have to agree that the image carried is "fiercer" when they are wearing the same thing... it's just shows that there is something common in them, perhaps their goal? That's why you see when soccer teams travel, they usually wear a suit and it's all the same colour and pattern.
