Hi all, I have been playing badminton for about 20 years now. Last few years (4 or so?) I played with a yonex armortec 800 def and enjoyed it quite a bit. This was playing with plastic shuttle (unfortunately...) Last year, I finally had the pleasure of playing with feather birdies. I felt the 800def did not quite get there, so I tried and enjoyed a Forza Ti 550S. This went okay, I think this racket is a bit more stiff than the 800def (not entirely sure though...) Enter the problem, with which I hope you guys can think along. I have to play plastic next season again (booooh!!) and have used both above mentioned rackets to get used to the plastic bird again. But now, after playing, my arm (elbow + shoulder) are rather painful. How can this be? Because of stiffness or rackets? (even though I had no problems in the past...) So time has come to find a racket that does not hurt my arm. What stiffness should I look for? Is the answer to be found in stiffness anyway? I am thinking about trying a nanospeed or arcsaber. Any thoughts? Budget is not an issue. Thanks, Chris
I guess around 9 / 9.5 kgs (have not got a clue what it is in lbs?), most of the time with BG80. When playing feather birds, I went up to 10 / 10.5kgs.
That's only 23lbs, that's not terribly high. As a rule, stiff rackets transfer more kinetic energy to your arm, because the energy is not being absorbed by the flexion of the racket. I haven't played with the 800DE, but if it's the same head-heaviness as the rest of the Armortec series, then the 900T might be worth considering. If you want to try something even balanced, you mention the ArcSaber series, and the Arc10 is a solid racket that's not just for advanced players that's a nice, all-rounder. If you're worried about your arm, I'd probably steer clear of the Nanospeed 9900 as it's quite stiff - you might be better off with an 8000 or a 7700. There is of course many other good brands - Forza being one of them - so maybe also look into their line-up and see if there's something slightly less stiff than the 550S.
the pain in your shoulders + elbows is probably from the jump in tension, or from playing badminton after a long time. as for a badminton racket, it is very hard to recommend one for you as you did not give specifics. Tell us how you play, what you prefer.
I have a pretty allround game, with a small preference towards offensive play. Maybe the arc 10 should be an okay choice. Does anybody know, regarding stiffness, how much the difference are within the arcsaber range? I tried the z-slash for a few months, but discarded it because of the small sweetspot.
I understand this is your opinion, however I increased my tension for playing with feathers by 2lbs (from 24lbs with plastics to 26lbs with feathers)
i agree with LD_rules completely. tbh i think with plastics theres no point with high tension, u would just waste your strings as the impact of the hard cork on plastic compared with feathers will just ruin ur strings. this article explains this point really well! great site actually aswell! see bottom of this page http://www.prospeed.com.my/string_tension.html
Arcsaber... Arcsaber 8dx too stiff...and urgly...It's not my type... Arcsabers 100...Looks very good...Limited rocket...I want to have a try... Arcsaber 10... Red color...which is my favourite...I like 10 very much...stiff...but not very much... Arcsaber 9... Only for girls or gays...(but I like its ruby color)...It has the most light head in the Arc Family... Arcsaber 7... Flexiable...And lighthead...silver, yellow, and black...nice color... Arcsaber 5... Flexiable...has already launched...But I didnt found in Nanjing ,Jiangsu market. ArcSaber Z-slash... whose fasted speed would be 414~~~and the rocket looks like a bolt!!! Nano Speed... NS 9900...I don't like it desine...looks like a orange lolipop... but a lot of ppl like this one... And this one is the most expensive rocket (In Yonex). Ns 9000...If you're not a perfesional palyer, don't try...
Colours should not mind.....if the specs are okay I would even swing a banana... I have not bought the Arc 10. So far so good, I am not disappointed!
I don't think this Formula is rite... My formular is: Arc8DX>ArcZ>Arc100>Arc10>Arc9(For Girls,but not flex)>Arc5=Arc7
Let me see...banana... ...forget it...then... For me, I may consider the color...I don't think you will swing a ArcSaber 9... I am useing arc 10 now...I like it so much... By the way, how much is arc 10 in your country? And which version is the arc 10 in your country? In China, It's ￥1100. CH version... But my classmates all said that JP version is the best. May be there are some tiny differences between them... Who knows...Arc 10... Like blood... ps,如果打弓箭9您就太霸气了~~~(If u gonna take arc 9,that must be sooo cool!)
Isn't the Arc100 actually an Arc 7 with another paint job? If so, it is not stiffer than arc 10.... I have 3U G3, it is around eur 140, without strings. I like it a lot, and am hoping the Arc10 limited edition will be sold here aswell so it is a good backup racket (should be sold here too, around sept/october according to the online shop)
have you tried all the above rackets ? Cause the Arc100 is not stiffer than the 10 or the 9. Really ? the Arc 9 is pink ? I would never have guessed.
or 100=10...I like 100 a lot...9 is ruby color(=pink)... Girls like 9. 9 is flexible like 7. And 9's head is the most lite in the Arc Famli.
In my opinion, Arc 100 is stiffer than Acr 7... And I dont heard any information about arc 10 Limited. I don't know whether china have arc 10 limited then.... My Arc 10 is 3U G4...your price is higher than ours...
I am Using Arc Z, it's just so rock!!! I was using Ti-10 until my 3rd (2nd gen Ti-10) broken, I decided to switch to Arc Z. It took me about 2 weeks for me to get used to it. What I can say about Arc Z, is "POWER" and "POWER", just luv it so much. Unfortunately, my front court skill are not as good as last time. Intercept no problem, tap also no problem but quality net shot become problem.
