I have been thinking about Yonex ads promoting their newest Nanospeed badminton racquets. Until this company discloses what their nanochemistry-inspired carbon fibers are really made of, I believe as an Organic chemist, that it would be wise to take these ads with a healthy grain of salt. Buckminster Fullerene is just another type of crystallization of a carbon molecule (diamond is another type). Is carbon fiber, consisting of Fullerene really lighter and more flexible? And what has nanochemistry to do with it?
chem class has changed a lot since the 50's best is to read up science and research papers from the net, lots of stuffs in there Nanotech is 'bigger' than u think (pardon the pun)
