She won Nationals in October. But I guess, that was when the team was already announced. Agree with your statement about ruthvika.

Tough matches for Aidil and Ng despite their good win until now. I don't think they can beat Laskya Sen or Kodai Naraoka at QF stage.

Interesting semifinal line-up in singles category :

    MS

Kodai Naraoka defeated Li Shifeng in team event semifinal last week, let's see whether YOG Gold medalist Li could take revenge this time. Lakshya Sen is more favoured to defeat title holder Vitidsarn.

A rematch of recent YOG Buenos Aires gold medal match when Wang Zhiyi lost narrowly to former world junior champion in three games.

Actually, Wang Zhiyi already avenged that YOG defeat on Goh in Wei in the team event in two straight sets. Still tomorrow's encounter can go either way as GJW has more experience in the senior circuit.

For the MS, of the four remaining, I think Kodai looks good having beaten Li Shifeng in the team event, and Kunlavut, who surprisingly lost to MAS Ng Tze Yong in the team event, may not prevail over Lakshya.

In fact, at first I thought the Irish Viet-born, Nhat Nguyen, may be the surprise package to take the title after watching how he pushed Ren Pengbo at the FISU World University Games to three hard-fought sets. A bit of a surprise to me that Li Shifeng after dropping G1, 21-19, to him went on to best him the next two sets for a convincing victory.

In the WS semifinals, DEN Line Christophersen is not to be underestimated, she has fighting chances against any of the other three,I think.

Wei Yaxin beating KOR Park Ga Eun was remarkable albeit in three sets, frankly not too unexpected though I believe her two compatriots,Wang Zhiyi and Zhou Meng, are stronger. Too bad the latter two are drawn to meet in the QFs.

That was a good match,I'd thought Nhat Nguyen is the player to watch here after seeing how he gave Ren Pengbo at the WUG a really hard time. To my surprise, Li Shifeng turned out to be pretty good and I was watching him play for the first time.

But as LSF lost to Kodai Naraoka in the team event, the latter has become the favourite now.

I believe the winner of Wang Zhiyi vs Goh Jin Wei will decide the eventual WJC in WS. Let's see if WZY can beat GJW again.

The time difference kills every person's enthusiasm. All Asian viewers who are more than willing to watch the matches would be on bed when the matches start. Unfortunate.

KV misses an easy smash and LS wins the first game 22-20. Cracker of the first game.
