Apparently the more westernized parts of China such as Shanghai and Beijing celebrate Christmas, although this is not a public holiday! Some will invite friends and relatives to their homes for meals and exchange of presents. And to create a conducive atmosphere, such homes are well-decorated with Christmas paraphernalia, especially the Christmas tree.

Buy gifts for your family, relatives and friends, the shopping centres say

    .
It is not really a surprise.

Since Christmas is the grandest celebration in the Western world, most westernised parts of Asia and Africa are influenced to celebrate Christmas.

Regarding exchanging of presents; I think some people have been greatly influenced by shopping centres; Buy gifts for your family, relatives and friends, the shopping centres say. :):):)

And in Singapore, the occasional and unannounced rain can catch many unawares. It is better to be armed with a collapsible umbrella just in case. But so far, the weather has not been chaotic and certainly no floods yet.

..yes, unfortunately we have had some heavy flooding also, although in some parts of the state, cities..there are even land & rock slides..
For snow, i think one would have to travel up to the local mountains in California (Norcal or Socal)..yes, in a way, Californians have everything here; snow, rain, flood, all kinds of land/rock slides and even sunshine at the beach, all within driving distance..;)
