    Maria cried

Maria Kristin was smiling broadly as she received her Bronze Medal from Rita Subowo [KONI head and IOC member]...

Then when Zhang Ning cried :crying: [full with tears of joy], Maria started to cry too... :crying: Zhang Ning kissed her gold medal many times... :crying: When the Chinese National anthem played as the flags are being hoisted, Zhang Ning cried some more... Very moving. What a great champion, what a great career she had... From loosing the Uber Cup to Mia Audina in 1994, to winning back the gold in 1998, to the 2004 Olympic Gold Medal, to the 2008 Olympic Gold Medal... Even Susi Susanti didn't get 2 golds.

Only Xie Xinfang looked very dissapointed ['bete' in Indonesian]. No 'sports-acting' today... Just plain sports drama! ;)

Maria... Maria... I really so proud of you. What a pity TVRI did not show medal ceremony, so I couldnt see her expression. However, I know, deep in your heart you are really really proud of the result. Maria...I cannot describing my feeling, but I am happy that finally you have proven that Chinese is beatable..... This is the finest present from you for Indonesia Independence Day tomorrow. Once again Maria, Thank you.... [big smile]

Maria dedicated her bronze medal to coaches Hendrawan and Marleve
    (someone please translate this)
"Medali perunggu ini saya persembahkan kepada pelatih Hendrawan dan Marleve yang selama ini telah membina saya. Kedua pelatih itulah yang membela saya sehingga saya tidak dicoret dari pelatnas," kata Maria Kristin usai pertandingan.

So, Hendrawan is actually among those who defend Maria to stay at Pelatnas.

Yes, you translated it well. Maria said thanks to the Hendrawan and Marleve who have coached her well and prevented her from being written-off by the National Team. In another paragraph, she said she already felt that she will get a medal after she defeated Tine Rasmussen of Denmark. And Maria will receive Rp 150 million [around US$ 16,500 today], presumably from KONI... :D

Oh, about London... I learned from PBSI people that [after the Lu Lan match], Hendrawan have told Maria to prepare herself to get gold in London 2012... :)

Dude.. while this be a cut off for 50% to PBSI?
I think TH drop his performance due to this PBSI 50% Bonus cut.

Man when Our Country could give some extra bonus for the athlete?

I don't know the latest PBSI policy on income of athletes received from KONI. I heard they still cut 25% - 40% or something of normal prize money earned...

I personally have told people in our government [Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Finance, DPR members etc.] to write policies that make INA sports well-funded, such as:
    • make it tax-deductable for companies to donate money to sports [including bonus money for athletes]...
    • income from prize money of tournaments are not taxable.
    • income tax for active athletes could be officially reduced to 15% [rather than 35% right now] or even reduce it to 0%...
But they disagreed with me, so far.... :( In my opinion, these things will incite more activity in INA sports... :) I know as well as many others that our government is cash-strapped. So many things have to be funded and thus, INA sports is not a big priority... If so, fine, then let the private sector do it.... just make the policies that make it convenient for the private sector...
