omg, is that really that lee chong wei was ill yterday? hope he get well soon and win his match gainst WACHA 2day... from thestar online... AN overnight fever did not stop national number one Lee Chong Wei from reaching the second round of the Malaysian Open at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil yesterday. Seasoned campaigner Wong Choong Hann and KLRC Bhd’s Sairul Amar Ayob gave better performances in their chase to win valuable Olympic ranking points and joined Chong Wei in the second round. The top seeded Chong Wei, who is now ranked number two in the world and virtually assured of a place in the Beijing Games, had to dig deep into his reserves to beat compatriot Mohd Hafiz Hashim 21-17, 21-16 in a 35-minute match. Hafiz dished out a good attacking game, which had been missing from his armoury for some time. But a lack of fitness let him down. Chong Wei will be up against Poland’s Wacha Przemyslaw today and he said that he expected a tough match. “I fell ill last night. In fact, I was in the rest room just minutes before my match because of a stomach upset. But I am glad that I pulled through the first round. Hafiz certainly did not make it easy for me,” he said. “I am sorry for my friend Hafiz. I know he badly wanted to gain some points for the Olympics. I hope he will go far in the Korean Open next week. “Wacha did well to beat Chen Yu and Chen Jin last year. I will certainly not take his challenge lightly. I will take a good rest.”
Yes i got back just in time..But i dont have a pass cause badzine has not appove my application just yet so i am going there as a spectator..
i plan to watch it after my work.. the problem i havnt buy the ticket will premium ticket available in the Putra Stadium? Can i seat anywhere hehe
Match to watch Interesting match today is Zhou Mi vs Zhu Lin. I am really doubtful Zhou Mi will play to win as she still worries about the punishment if she come out victory. Badminton Association of Hong Kong should observe this match in depth and if indeed Zhou Mi play not to win then she shall not be sent to Olympic representing Hong Kong. Chen Hong has a pact with China Badminton Association and see what happens to him, such a disgrace and destroying all his credentials ... I hope Zhou Mi is not another Chen Hong.
Timetable of today's second round is quite weird when the organizer set first match at 05.00pm and last part (MD) will be finished by midnight. But, yeah so friendly for working people... After so many first round casualties yesterday, three INA representatives who potentially eliminated tonight are : 1) Simon or Taufik, waiting Simon create upset here but of course it's one hard job to dump the Olympic Champion 2) Rani/Endang, this INA pair has unimpressive performance compare than the other two, Vita/Lilyana and Jo/Gresyia 3) Jo/Gresyia, uphill task to overcome Korean world number four -- An exciting clash between Andre and Chen Yu. Andre has advantage side in their two previous duels (won quarterfinal of Vietnam Open/07 and semifinal of Russian Open/07), looks like another close match once again for both of them whoever will win it. All the best for Indonesia shuttlers, keep on winning...
The organizers planned to use all 4 courts up to q-finals, thus the delayed start for 2nd round and q-finals.
I am very tempted to attend the games after work too but not sure if they still have ticket for last minutes.

Yes they do. The stadium was practically empty the last 2 days. Maybe from tomorrow onwards, it will start filling up.
It's just weird for the organisers to start the matches at 5pm.. Even if they use all 4 courts, some matches will stretch longer than the planned time of 40 mins per match, and will cause the delay of following matches. The last group of matches will probably go past midnight. Hopefully not. The only reason I can think of behind this planning is ticket sales = $$$. We live in such a realistic world.
Btw.. ..any sighting of our Hau-ge, abedeng??..I heard he's supposed to help/assist the Djarum squad/players during this M'sia Open..I wonder if he's also having the same nervous bout as he had during last yr's HK Open Finals..hmmm..
For ticket sales reason, I think they seriously need to lower the price at the first round and second round. Then put some announcement on TV and newspaper about the price to invite everyone to come. The price for quater final onwards are reasonable.
