Top seed Lee Chong Wei is expected to meet Taufik Hidayat in the quarter-finals.

LCW has had a good run of form over the last 3 tournaments, but i think us malaysians always have a phobia of our players underachieving when our expectations are high.

having said that, i do hope that the home crowd don't put too much undue pressure on LCW, he plays much better when the pressure is off.

Seems that you all forgot about XXF :(:(:(

    Round 1: Cheng Shao-Chieh
Round 2: Jae Youn Jun/Eriko Hirose
    QF: Wong Mew Choo
    SF: Zhu Lin/Yip Pui Yin/Zhou Mi/Wang Chen
(if XXF can beat the above mentioned players of course :D),
    Finals: Tine Rasmussen/Xu Huaiwen/Lu Lan/Yao Jie/Pi Hongyan/Zhang Ning

So who said that LCW's draws were difficult?

yup, that's certainly a tricky draw.

i think it's safe to say that the format of the super series has ensured that most players will be playing top ranked opponents from very early on in the tournament, and very few rounds offer 'guaranteed wins' anymore.

this is great for the fans, and hence great for the sport.

what all of us want, i'm sure, is to see competitive matches between skilled players, rather than the more one-sided affairs we've been used to seeing before the SS was introduced.

wow, that's desperately unlucky, if he wants to win the title, he will potentially have to beat -

    Simon - WR 11
    Taufik - WR 7
    LCW - WR 2
    Peter - WR 5
    BCL - WR 3

simon's the only one not ranked in the world's top 10 in his path! but they are all ranked above him at the moment, quite a challenge.

I like the INA player distribution in all categories... especially MS and MD... hardly any direct INA vs. INA too early in the tournament... ;) some have to face each other in R-16... that's ok lah... :p

It's the player that need to cope with high expectation and pressure, we can't just ask fan not to expect too much especially if our player is the top seed in the tournament. Pressure is part of the game, like it or not! Great players will overcome the pressure else she or he will just be a good players. For Chong Wei to reach his greatness, the need to overcome the pressure barrier with the help of his excellent skills. Malaysia Boleh!

Let's hopes WCH able to defeat CH in the first round, to avoid a possibly walkover again by CH when he expected to meet Bao in the R16 .. as usual...

LCW in the Malaysian Open is like Taufik in our Indonesian Open... Jago kandang! Homecourt powerplayer... :D LCW and Taufik tend to win A LOT at home. No such thing as 'pressure' for them... :p

With the top 2 Chinese pairs withdrawing, I hope one of the INA XD pair can deliver the first title of the year now.

With Lin Dan and Peter Gade not there, Taufik Hidayat also stands a chance if he can survive past QF, beating the more fancied Lee Chong Wei.
