At chess world there is an expression - playing champion, dividing between those who only won a title and those who also win all tournaments around.
What about that married burgher-looking man?
After WCH i was actually out of news somehow, only now getting back. I missed China Masters and Japan Open for my pity. But i see LD didnt go anywhere there as well.
Why he plays all this? May be to be in home with a wife towards OG, make shopping,
    visit friends and relax?

well, obviously, needless to say, it is a deliberate attempt by CHN squad to manipulate the ranking.

Isn't that already clear?? Look who LD will face if he advance, and you will find the answer.

But losing to Wong is a better option than losing to CHN team mate or Sho Sasaki in that matter

I don't think so. It makes no difference.

Everyone should be congratulating Wong Wing Ki, who has been playing very well, instead of making excuses for Lin Dan who obviously isn't in the mood to play in this kind of time. He's just waiting for the next Olympics while Chen Long works his way up

Lin Dan is already losing expectations, the momentum is now with Chen Long and Lee Chong Wei with a few young players like Viktor Axelson, Wong Wing Ki and Dionysius Rumbaka who are improving on their game very fast

This only clearly shows that a country like China and its citizens particularly in Sports are willing to sacrifice personal glory for the good of the country. "Why settle for a simple sandwich if you can have a delightful clubhouse?". Super Series Titles or Olympic Gold Medal? Money could be immaterial since most of it would go to the government I believe.

Ultimately it s all about money, not national glory. It s the endorsement gold mine that opens up after a big title. LYB will be the gold mine boss; LD and teammates will be the workers. All these riches may be waiting for LYB and LD but they cover it up in the name of patriotism.

Agree with you and I said it before too...money first, everything else second. Only a fool would believe it is titles, nation glory, blah, blah,...if LD wins his second OLY gold, lots of real golds will follow...and if LD does win OLY12, what wonder what he think if he had not screwed up OLY2004?

Just watched the match on youtube just now, and my observation is that lin dan just play his 50-60 percent strength yesterday. And he pays a heavy price for that. From the match also, i can see lin dan was underestimating the HKG guy.

3rd set, when Lin Dan at 19pts and his opponent on match point, did you notice LD went to speak to his coaches at the corner? Wondering what he said to them...Or did they say something to him?

That's just 'old' lin dan's style on court.. Looking for words of wisdom from his coach. Unfortunately 'the thing' was not there yesterday.

"Coach, are you sure you want me to lose? I can get the next 3 points from this HK kid easily if I try. Just kidding."
