Does anyone know why Lin Dan's tattoo misses THE in the title "Until the end of world"? The origins of his tattoos are explained here, and the famous line is a reference to the ending theme of a japanese anime series "Slam Dunk", recorded as "Sekai ga owaru made wa" by WANDS in 1994. The correct English translation would include THE, as featured in his own book's title and also in the commercial Intel Tattoo at 1:45. Yet his arm displays "Until the end of world" without THE. Any ideas why it happened?
You know how things get lost in translation... from Japanese words to Chinese to English... Or maybe he ran out of space on his arm...
Speaking of his tattoos, check out this very recent ad series using LD by Intel re his tattoos, using the tag line "Look Inside" . Very interesting. Well, you know how some of those self assembly instructions for certain toys, gadgets, etc from China? Some of them have pretty funnily horribly mashed up translations into English...
I never thought Lin Dan was that bad in English. Do you know if he made his tattoos at once or added them one by one over months or years, and when was it?
sorry, i didn't know bold facing my font means shouting, i thought all caps means shouting? my bad! most of the time i'm using bold face fonts so that i can distinguish my own thoughts and the quotes i'm using, lol, old age!
LOL! I was just wondering why you'd suddenly taken to doing the bold thing Not that I'm complaining or anything... it's kinda quiet under the bed. For now...! LD looks a few years older than his age, in that pic above! Must be the stress and weight of expectation...
http://www.badzine.net/news/lin-dan-back-to-training/28820/ [h=1]Lin Dan is back to training[/h]By Raphael Sachetat – – January 29, 2014Posted in: News The double Olympic Champion is back… Lin Dan announced to Xinhua on January 29th that he will be back to trainingwith the National team in a few days, and that he expects to return to competition in about two months. “My goal is to be back in the international circuit and try to win ranking points to allow me to play in big competitions” said Lin Dan. “I will first train in Lingshui for 28 days and then return to competition, but my main goal is to upgrade my ranking position” said the Chinese, who is currently world number 103. This means that it is likely that the reigning world champion will be back in competition for the second part of the year and he is likely to be seen in Superseries again. “As for Rio, I don’t want people to think I’m “sticking” around – I don’t want to use that word, but if my condition allows it in two years, I do not exclude to participate in Rio” he said, hinting also that he was hoping Lee Chong Wei would stay and play longer as well as finding time for his family. Lin Dan had been out of the circuit for almost a year before returning for the world championships thanks to a Wild card given by BWF – he went on to win the event in August but has not since reappeared in an International tournament.
