Would it have been easier if he played SYQ and ZJP had played ginting instead?

He employed the wrong tactics and lost to himself.

    There should be performance incentives.

Honestly I think LZJ may be getting a little bit too much into his own head. Honestly, I think having arrogance and confidence is good. You don't win big titles by giving too much respect for your opponents. The last Malaysian player who I thought had the same arrogance and confidence was Koo Kien Keat. But I feel that LZJ's arrogance and confidence is utilized in the wrong way where it goes into his own head and puts more pressure onto himself and it is affecting him.

He could have easily said that he will skip the Commonwealth Games to fully recover from a mild hip injury and most people will understand. But he comes out and make statements like he wants to focus on the WC and that he is in very good form to the media, but seems to be unable to handle the pressure that results from those statements.

He might need additional sparing partner(s) as well. Daren Liew has the skills but not the speed. Also needs to add a left-handed sparing partner would help. I think VA benefited greatly from having training camp in Dubai where he could just get sparing partners that bring different dimension to his training -- a win-win for all participants but the most to VA, that is why he is so dominant recently.

Also, not taking credit from ZJP, he did play a superb match, he only won by the smallest margin in the two games of 21-19. There are some element of luck involved towards the end of the 3rd games and it could have gone either way easily. LZJ won many outright winners with smashes that ZJP could not even reach, his weakness was not staying focus and making too many errors giving away points.

He will learn from this experience and we as fan can only wish him well and hope that the results will eventually come.

For Malaysia, in and post LCW era, we saw glimpses of potential successors in Daren Liew (had great skill but a bit slow), Soo Tech Zhi (relied on power smash too much), NTY (still developing), but LZJ has the most potential to overdo LCW in winning world champion ship and olympic gold. I remain hopeful that he will eventually win Malaysia first world championship and Olympic gold.

Now more flaks from missing out commonwealth games by the lost to china. Not even quarter finals as a too 5.

Cant even make it to qtr final of wc after such a long preparation. Sleep during 3 weeks training. Demi negara my ass now. ;)

Tkm and lpj and md performed better even after cg. What excuse he got now?.

if like that, either Lee Zii Jia to return to BAM and play with Soh Wooi Yik, or Soh Wooi Yik leave BAM and turn professional with Lee Zii Jia...

for me it is better Lee Zii Jia stick with men single...

LZJ needs to have a good sparring partner or two.

I don't know if sparring with Uncle Darren might be good for him, since he is old and slow than most players these day.

I hope LZJ doesn't become the victim of his own psychological pressure in addition to trying to live up to the hopes and expectations of the MAS fans and the nation; the more he wants to win a major, the more stressed out he is until he is hampered by performance anxiety.

What I can guarantee is that the World Championship burden is perhaps gone off his back after his buddy Soh Woi Yik and Aaron Chia's triumph.

Lee Zii Jia should train harder and harder after this. His shots quality is C+ grade these days.
