It is interesting that many players skip KO, eventhough KO offers the highest prize money.

    IN:
    Lin Dan

    OUT:
    WS:
    Zhu Lin
    Ella Diehl
    Saina Nehwal

    MS:
Andre Kurniawan ( not planning to be in Korea)
    Anup Shridar
    Tommy,Alamsyah

    MD:
    KKK/TBH
    Tony/Candra
    CTF/LWW
    Tan Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock
Rian/Yoke ( not planning to be in Korea)

WD and XD: looks same as Mas Open

I think Rexy is only sending Zkary/Tazari,Chew/Chan,Tan/Hoon, and Chan/Chang

I guess he figures out that stamina might be a factor. Koo/Tan and Choong/Lee have pretty much sealed their tickets to the Olympics, so, quite a safe strategy.

INA pretty much unchanged except for Team Djarum's players and some junior players like Tommy Sugiarto, Pia Zebadiah and Alamsyah Yunus.

Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan are seeded 1st.

i'm still confused by this strategy, surely it's better to send your top players to the top events (ie the super series). if there is a need to skip tournaments, then it should be the lower tournaments that are skipped first (GP or GP gold).

unless, of course, there's a tactic to score points when the big guns are not around, or perhaps to boost confidence with a win (though it's a pretty hollow win).

I guess LWW is not 100% recovered from his injury yet and for KKK/TBH, we knew that rexy is limitting their participations to focus more on Olympics....

Rexy already said he will send KKK/TBH to selected tourneys only since they already got their OG ticket. Rexy wants them to stay home for quality training for OG.
LWW still havent fully recover from the groin/knee injury, perhaps better not to go many tourneys.
Zakry/Fairuz are reserve pair for OG, they need to improve their rankings to stay in top 16.

HoonTH/TanWK are new pair, same principle I suppose.
Chan PS/Chang HP under Rashid Sidek,back-up squad. For exposure.
CCM/CCE are not under BAM, just got back together, must improve ranking too.
I find it weird Razif/Khoo arent going for Korea Open, they're supposed to be better than Chan/Chang

What happened with Tan Bs/Ong SH, they supposed to be send out as many tourneys as possible to stand at least some "minor" chances of qualifying to OG rite? or the coach have given up hopes on them

Msia 3rd pair is Zakry/Fairuz. They are the one being sent. They are no 16, TBS/OSH are no 19 or so.
Rexy has ranked Zakry/Fairuz as 3rd pair in terms of skills, they are reserve pair for OG, in case the oldies, LWW is injured.

TBS/OSH are Msia no 4 pair. The no 5 pair, Gan/Lin are also not going to Korea. Only new experimental pair : Hoon/Wee Kiong. Wonder whether it'll be permanent partnership.

The message is: buck up or u will be dropped from tourneys.

Gan Teik Chai/Lin Woon Fui have been dropped from the Super Series events at the end of last year and only competed in the SEA Games. Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari/Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif obviously show more potential than Tan Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock from the 2 year-end SS in beating Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun while Tan/Ong surrendered meekly to Tony/Candra.

So, its kinda natural to see Fairuz/Zakry to be the no 3 pair and a credible backup pair to Choong/Lee for the Olympics in the case of last minute injury or bad-form.

To be honest, i DO NOT think the two dwarf can make any impact even if they manage to qualify for OG, regardless on merit or replacing the old guards.

Why would you say that? Line calls didn't figure into Tony/Candra's loss to Lee/Jung last January, nor did they into their win over Lee/Hwang in the finals in 2006. Maybe his personal reason relates to one of the million other facets of his life. It may have nothing at all to do with Korea or its line judges.

Glad to know Vita/Lilyana get seeding position in this KOR SS! They are 8th seed and possible to meet one of top two China pairs in quarterfinal scenario.

The draw hasn't been made yet. It is scheduled for Tuesday, Jan 8. You can intuit many of the withdrawals known so far from the seeding reports as well as explicit reports from players/teams.

It could just be that Anup Sridhar doesn't have the time to enter the KO.
Right now, he is competing in the India's National Badminton Championships.

The latest news from New Delhi is that he has made it to the MS final :)
