So the much awaited Titanic battle between the 2 greatest MS players of modern badminton is on the card. After the infamous walkout by LD last week due to injury and LCW fiery form to nail 2 titles in the early part of January, who will emerge champ and become the first MS champion of a premier Super Series event and win a whopping big pocket money for Chinese New Year? Not to forget a nice Osim massage chair!! So lets assume no last minutes walkover, who will be your pick?
Eventhough LCW is in top form streamrolling all his opponents like a bulldoozer and LD played below par so far, I still put my money on LD to win the grand Premier Super Series. From past LD never failed to show his form especially against LCW. With an impressive head to head encounter, I can say LD should grab it. Anyway I do hope LCW can grab it. So who is your pick?

I can see LCW edging a close encounter similar to the Japan Open last year. Depends where the Korea Open is on Lin Dan's list of priorities, as we all know he turns it on when he wants to.

Well, he could have been holding back and spoil my predictions, but it really seems LD isn't in such great shape. Looks like he really struggled against Simon Santoso...so I think LCW can and will win this. Displayed real offensive gameplay and aggressiveness in the MO, and a will to win. If he can keep that up, he'll win. Hopefully LD won't be able to dictate the pace like he did in the AG, but as TH was really outclassed in the final and was afraid of LCW at the net, I think he won't be able to repeat that performance.
Anyway, I hope we'll see a great match between the two, and LCW wont let himself be frightened into defensive play :)

Against any other player LCW has no problem.but against LD it is totally different.

I can see there is a huge psychological barrier when LCW plays LD to the extent that LCW couldnt play properly and made too many mistakes, and then lost badly . To add to the insult , Lin dan showed his theatrics , LCW got humiliated.

Nobody can help him except LCW himself, be confident and play normally without making too many mistakes, i believe LCW can beat LD this time.

The past records are not so favorable for LCW. In my heart, I will still pick LCW.

Both player will play under a cold weather this time. IT COULD BE QUITE DIFFERENT from their previous meeting. The shuttle speed will be slow because of the cold weather, plus the drift in the stadium would affect the players.

50-50 from me for this match.

Your head says LD and your heart says LCW. I have both for LCW.

I have always seen LD as the better player but this time I am really doubtful,

it could be a turning point.

If you watch closely LD has a slight pallor and it also shows in his lethargic movement about court. He appears to be reluctant to move up to a higher tempo or gear when playing.
I think LCW has a very good chance of winning if he doesn't lose his nerves.

If this is one of the major, I would pick LD. It seems that the fire in LD to perform at the very best were reserved for certain titles that deemed important to him now. Anyway as he is playing againts his arch rival and biggest threat, he could well play above expectation once again.

    50-50 to both.

My heart says Lin Dan but my head says...

LCW comes off the blocks quickly while LD is getting his engine started, LCW takes a 3-4 point lead early in the game. Something like 5-2, and maintains this lead until the first interval. 11-7. Post-interval, LCW keeps up the high pace while putting up a solid defense against LD, who is slowly getting frustrated when his smashes just keep coming back. LCW takes the first game 21-13.

LD now ups the pace, and the scores are kept within 2 points of each other as they battle till the interval, where LD will have the slight advantage at 11-9. After the interval, LCW again gets to a high tempo, playing an aggressive game focusing on moving LD to the corners, leveling the game at 15-all and working to a 21-18 finish.

    2 sets, 21-13, 21-18. LCW goes 3 for 3 in 2011.

(I'd feel so stupid if this turns out completely wrong)
