Hi, I was told by a stringer that you can use 2 types of string in one racket. Long, one type( eg BG68ti) Cross, another type ( eg BG85). What are the advantages & disadvantages using this mix type stringing method? Thanks

Of course you can (I think I said something about this before....but don't remember in what thread:p)

In theory, you can even use different string for every 2 points ! (but it requires great patient and $)

The advantages depends, because the string preferences are based on one's favor.

For advantage, I think it's more down to the string features and users performance preference.

For disadvantage, I think different "losing tension ratio" might cause a problem in a long run. For example, initiall using 20 lb for both main and cross. After 3 months, string A (using for main) lose 10% (2 lb), while string B (using for cross) lose only 5% (l lb). This might bring up potential risk of "uneven force", especially for high tension, extreme weather condition, etc.

    G'day,

For my customers who break string often, I sometimes string mains with durable strings and cross with performance strings. However this is only done at their request. For example, BG65 for main and BG66 for cross. I tried this particular string combination recently and must say it plays quite nicely.
