    As a possible consolation...

...if the current trend continues, as bananakid mentioned in his post quite a while back, no Thomas Cup winner has ever won the Olympics Gold in the same yr.
So.........the possibility is still there for INA (men's side) to claim a gold in Beijing..Will this trend continue??..;)

Sutiyoso looks more like a gangster than President of PBSI. His team is full of boot-lickers.

i disagree, back in 2000 ina won thomas cup then during OG, candra/tony won gold medals too...will this trend continue?-not for long, as we can already see how ina's badminton is moving towards self-destruction...none of our youngsters are comparable to tony/candra or ricky/rexy...hopefully pbsi will prove me wrong in the near future...
the thing that pbsi has to learn from the koreans is how they manage their regeneration process. the seniors in the korean team guided their juniors throughout the early stage of their careers e.g. htk paired up with lyd to "transfer" his experience and stuff. as a result, the "lee yong dae factor" plays a huge role in the korean's success this year alone.

Do you know why the Istora fans boo MAS? That's because of K A R M A too! Think of what MAS government did to INA!

For further info, read the papers... Let's both not get banned from BC. :p Let's just have fun with badminton! ;)

Are you kidding me? bananakid has quite a terrible sense of badminton history...

Ricky-Rexy won both the Thomas Cup and Olympics in 1996!
Candra-Tony won both the Thomas Cup and Olympics in 2000!

the big questions for INA badminton

    1. are we ever going to be as good as we were?:crying:
    2. now that we had lost 3-0 in front of home crowd, what is pbsi doing to prevent something like this from happening again?
    3. what are the reasons that caused us to lose that badly?and how is pbsi handling these problems?

    what do you guys think?:p

ctjcad made a minor error, okay.:p

They all lacked fighting spirit, how can HS/MK lose so badly in the rubber set 21-10, I mean I haven't seen the match yet but come on that just tells the story...

I was following Taufiks match from college, when he lost first set I thought thats it no way back.....

You could see it was coming, round robin struggling against the Thais, against England same thing...

    Bring TSF back

He is the guy who can quickly mass-produce top players. (Anyone tell me is Fung Permadi produced by TSF too?)

But "soft" players like Sony, TH, and Simon should prepare to be kicked out. :D

Fung Permadi was also coached by TSF [Tang Xianhu]...

But he seems different from the "five tigers" (this is what us Chinese call them) Suprianto, Arbi, Ardi, Susanto, Kusuma.

Permadi was skillfull, deceptive, but not very powerful and didn't have good stamina. I watched one 1990 match between him and FKK. He toyed FKK until his gas ran out and finally lost. ;)

No, I don't think so. He would have been slaughtered by PSH and Simon murdered by LHI. So, no difference really.

    Thanks for rectifying..

:p..thank you, guys, for providing those historical answers. Yeah, i was a bit lazy & didn't do my task of checking for facts:p. And sorry, bananakid, for misquoting your post.:p
So, i guess, based on that trend, it'll be either CHN or KOR..
IMO, here are my 2 sen rupiahs to the above queries:
    1. Possible. But it'll take a lot of hardwork & sacrifice (from top to bottom).
    2. As your comments in post #23.
    3. (First part) Attitude and preparation; we can look to the MAS MD2 in their win in the Semis for a good example. (Second part) Not sure exactly what you are asking. Maybe as you mentioned in your post #23.

I was under the impression that the Senayan crowd cheered for Malaysia...

The chants of CHONG WEI CHONG WEI and the BOLEH BOLEH BOLEH BOLEH songs...

INA probably preferred to face Malaysia in the final rather than China, so they cheered on for Malaysia but unfortunately the team they cheered for lost, and then the disaster when their hometeam they cheered on so much (actually it was pretty dead after the INA MD lost) lost as well. So Indonesian should cheer on any team they want them to lose:D the reversing strategy!
