I don't know how to make a poll, but what I do know is that a lot of you are familiar with Indomie.

The point of this thread is to see how and to improve the way you cook your Indomie! :p

Let me briefly explain what it is. Indomie is a food of the nation in Indonesia. It solves all your hunger problems. When you quarrel with your wife and she boycots the kitchen, Indomie. When you are in need of fast delicious food, Indomie. When you are broke (possibly from buying so many badminton gear), Indomie! :D

For those who don't know what it is, here is a picture:

This is the most common variant outside Indonesia I guess.

And this is what it looks like done (with a couple of things added):

    Delicious, no?

    I will start with my first tip;
Add Tobassco sauce, cracked black pepper, and boil water before adding the Indomie into the pot ;). Cucumber goes good with it

    Alright now, my question is:

How many packets of Indomie do you make at once, and what is your favoured flavour?

I'll start with 3, and Mie Goreng!

Indomie rocks balls - possibly the best instant mee goreng out there.

One packet is never going to be enough, two will be too much (for me). And the sheer delight of licking the sauce off the plate after you're done...

I like it plain with nothing added though my cousins seem to enjoy adding water and egg...

I used to buy those mini-packs of Indomie in Indonesia but could not find them in the supermarkets anymore. Have these mini-packs been discontinued?

The packing looks different from singapore. I like the taste Myojo 'Char Mee'. The noodles is not as hard or as plastic as the indomee. I used to buy a lot back from jakarta. Damn cheap. ;) Some recommend another local indonesian brand.

Offcourse all food will taste crap if you constantly eat it ;). The mini packs have been discontinued I think; at least I havn't seen them in a long time too! The thing I like the most is the MSG contained... Mmmmmmmmm makes you good and dumb, but satisfied!

How do u all like it served?

It's interesting stuff from Nigeria there; due to the controversies that it caused in Indonesia itself :p.

You will also die if you eat anything else every day. :)

The call it Ibumie here nowadays - the answer to the question in everybody's mind - yes it is the same thing, different name. You have to taste it for yourself to see if it's authentic, don't "but my friend heard..."

Indomie is instant noodle by another name, and in this case it is Indonesian noodle of the fried type.
All instant noodles are poor quality food. They are refined carbs., with no fibers, vitamins and minerals. They are all pre-cooked food fried in oil. Because of costs the huge quantities of oil used to fry or seep the oil into the instant noodles, the quality of the oil is always suspect. Oils that are not changed frequently can make instant noodles that are hazardous, from oxidation. The oils are also highly saturated with some using trans fat.

Did you just copy and pasted that from a collection of warning notes? I remember reading the exact same thing from another thread. :D

not rice though. some people actually eat rice everyday. but it has to be in moderation of course. Rice power!!

anyway, first time i tried Indomie was a few years ago. it was pretty good.
i never eat Indomie these days though. sick of the taste and weird feeling you get after you finish 2 packs. not to mention the funny smell.

The smell! The smell is very true, stays with you. So there's another suggestion; after you eat Indomie, always brush your teeth =P... Wash your lips too xD.

Have to be creative to try other brands and switch the flavours. If you eat the same thing, it does get boring. ;)
