I clamp one side in with clamps and string the whole of one side first then proceed to do the other... but one side ALWAYS snaps. Why is this? It's really annoying now and i cant keep replacing the strings.
When you say you string one side first, do you mean stringing the right / left mains or are you talking about top / bottom crosses? A little more info may help too. What strings are you using, where did you source them? What machine are you using? What tools? What tension? Condition of grommets? There are lots of factors to consider but you need to tell us a bit more.
I was using Carlton durapulse 74 with an express shuttle crank machine, I noticed one of the grommets was damages and I was stringing it at 27. I was also stringing top/bottom crosses.
Whether top to bottom or bottom to top or start from middle, the string should not always snap. It usually due to: 1. Broken or splitted gromment 2. Rough surface for clamp / gripper 3. Inaccurate tension However, I believe #1 is usually the best chance. Btw, when you say snap, you mean during stringing, or mean after some (or very little) playing time?
