In order of how I would make the purchase decision: 1. Look. The racket must able to stand out among others on the rack. 2. Price. If it does not seem reasonable, I wont buy. 3. Feel. If it does not feel right in my hand, I wont buy. I like to read reviews, but they dont affect my decision at all. One's preference could be very different from another's choice. Having said that, I have already bought close to 20 different rackets using the above method. So it is not that much of a decision, isn't it? LOL!
Heh! That's too funny! Linus' decisionmaking comes down to this: If in doubt, buy 'em all. 1. I thought the idea is to make yourself stand out, not the racquet. If my racquet stands out too much, someone might steal it. 2. Price. It's really subjective. What maybe expensive to one may be just chump change for others. From my own casual observation, there's lots of people who think Nanospeed 9000... or any latest Yonex' top models are acceptable buys. 3. Feel. Can't really 'feel' the racquet with just a few swings in the shop. Probably why Linus' bought most of them to try out at the courts.
if ur racket can stand out that much, no one would steal it because they would be caught almost instantly =P as for me: 1) Brand: Switched to purely RSL (about to sell my last non-RSL racket, a Carlton Megaflex F2) 2) Feel: I like it flexy 3) Cost: Gotta be a balance somewhere... as for now since RSL is still "cheap" I rank cost 3rd, or it'd be first. 4) Uniqueness: I dun think any other racket stands out like RSL. They have their own technology which I have yet to hear from another company (cept their older technology). Love the Flex Power... I can really feel it unlike other companies like Gosen or Carlton (Yonex dun really have a "Flex Technology") 5) Weight: No rackets 90grams or above. Oh yeah, where i play, i don't think anyone has anything RSL cept for one and only 1 RSL bag i've seen so far (next to my own partner who got a RSL bag too but no RSL racket but he's not currently residing in the area). Anyone steal my racket or shuttles, I'll know and I've caught one so far...
It is very shiny! It's so shiny that... it gleams in the idle waves of sunlight that dance upon the surface of its unique tiger-like pattern, the red, sparkling with the ferocity of fire. The black stripes mimick the black spaces in starry nights, as the predator seeks its meal. The blue string plays off the red , almost semingly an undulating force, contained by the surrounding frame and whisting like the aforementioned prowling cat of prey, until the time for attack is well accounted for. Sorry, I got carried away. It's a good racket, just tiring and too stiff for me atm.
That's quite debatable. You're lucky thus far. If thieves realise how valuable your racquet really is, it will be gone. Even if it's not under threat, peace of mind is quite the high price to pay for having highly visible expensive items.
by yonex standards, my racket are dirt cheap. They are all under USD$100. Even though a good brand, not many in US knows about it. Those that do and carry the racket are in southern California. Northern California are oblivious to this brand. You ask anyone they'd will respond with a what, I've never heard of it and is that an imitation racket?
first racket (did not know anything about anything back then) i chose merely by looks and brand. i like the look, it is yellow and black and looks solid and of course it is a yonex. and a carbonex because my cousin have one but his is the expensive one. mine was cheap low end yonex. second racket (already a member of BC, so did a lot of research and read the recommendations but in fact still clueless because all the research only confused me more, ha ha h aha) i wanted an isometric because i already have an oval one, i wanted a lighter one and i still wanted a yonex. financial not permitting, i bought a low end yonex racket. the looks i dont like. now that i am looking for a new racket, i will, i shall..... not only consider yonex but also other brands, buy a racket that is eye pleasing to me and most important within my budget.
price and research for me. good looks are a bonus but not necessary i just care how the racket performs..
i choose when i want to buy a racquet i check the flxiblity, how light it is what is the maximum tension, wheter its heavy headed or anything.
lol.... so this is how people do it... xDDDD As for me, I think it is the playing style i.e. attack of defence. I am attack oriented so I will keep myself at that section of the racquets. Like most people, I am biased towards only using Yonex.
Another Jerby art at work! =P Would of been halarious if you hand written the words too! -------------------------------------------------------------------------- For me, I would try it out but I took a gamble like twice. Once with the NS9K Type S - it's ok to me but not quite my preference even thou I can use it fine. The second was wtih the AT900T - looks like I hit right on the money.
arrrrr..now I feel like the little kid playing with crayons... I just couldn't resist it this time I should include another new tree I guess "is it yonex's latest racket"? Yes: buy No: buy yonex's newer racket just messing with y'all
dude, have you even read a single post about my rackets? I mean c'mon...I got at least 2,000 about them...
