Take it easy guys....I think its BETTER for Wong Mew Choo to lose today rather than forcing herself to beat Salakjit Ponsana today and then having to endure another match against Kaori Mori tomorrow. What for???

Even during our talk with Rexy yesterday, he agreed that Wong should just withdraw.

I do not agree with this kinda decision. If wanna withdraw, do it before the tournament starts. I know she will get some compensation by BWF, but who care. The $$ she bang from CO Last week is more than enough !

During Sudirman Cup, WMC injured her foot in 2nd game, but she decided to play on and lost. That was why Anita Kaur replaced her in subsequent matches.

Here in HK, her knees hurt & she's exhausted.

As mentioned in other posts, it's not the $$, it's the ranking points. even by losing in the 1st round, she collects points. The battle for OG spots is fierce and every opportunity to solidfy your position must be taken.

It's the same for all the players on the fringe of qualification. Exhausted or not, they need the points, so they play on.

Agreed, in the 3 matches against CHN's best, Wong Mew Choo had stretched herself very hard to retrieve those "impossible" shots, harder than I've ever seen.

Hope she can recover sufficiently for the SEA Games challenge, 'cos Salakjit will be on home soil ......

But MAS practice is, if we have registered players, they have to play. Withdrawal is only for injuries. MAS didn't bank on WMC winning China Open.

Why should worry about qualifying to the OG. With the limitation on 2 to max 3 players per country. She should face little hesistance for earninig a spot in OG. (even a player from South Africa , Nigeria, Brazil were eligible!!!)
Unless, her perfomance in the upcoming SS starting from next Jan towards the ending periods of OG Qualifying is very, very BAD . Lose in first round on each SS. Then, her position will be in high risk

    1) Rexy is a coach, he should know better right?

    2) WMC wont get compensation, she'll be fined like Taufik. I think you meant fined.

    3) Again, she needs Oly points. Remember she's injury prone. She got injured during Sudirman Cup... There were also other times when she had to skip tourneys due to injury, so who knows when she aggaravate injury, have to skip tournament.
Then lose points, so, I suppose she felt ok enuf to play in HK.

Same goes for our WD Chin EH.

    4) And they have to be in top 16 or not qualify except for certain countries where badminton is not popular.

Is her brother going through bad patch? Haven't seen Boonsak playing well since the end of University Games.

Well, didn't she just lose today in the 1st round? Ever heard of saving for a rainy day? The points she picked up today could be the ones the put her through to the OG.
