No, they will be reunited briefly and play as a pair only in WC. This will be their last international tournament together.
Depends on worse for what haha, worse for potential medals for INA yup, but for minions specifically I think it’s favorable for them? I think they’d rather face Alfian/Ardianto and Ahsan/Setiawan rather than the Jap or Chn pairs, or is it just me who thinks so? Other country pairs employ more tactics to beat them whereas INA pairs like it flat and fast like them
I personally think minions would rather play against any japanese/chinese pair (except yuta/endo maybe) than fajar/rian. since the asian games fajar/rian always gave them trouble, probably one of the very few pair that can outplayed minions in the flat game.
Agreed on the flat part, but Fajar/Rian form hasn’t been too good in recent tournaments. I’d personally only feel more comfortable with them playing Kamura/Sonoda than Fajar/Rian, the other jap and chn pairs are all very dangerous (even in spite of Li Liu’s lacklustre record against them). Anyway let’s see haha it’s gonna be interesting
Minions won their last encounter against Fajar/Rian in SO. But before that, it always cost them legs and arms to win battles against Fajar/Rian. Strangely, I feel more confident with them playing Endo/Wata despite minions lost the last two encounters. At least we know what to expect from the JPN pair. With Fajar/Rian we'll never know. I guess minions will be prepared and in form this time to play anyone. Just be in form minions..
Hope GohTan or OngTeo that goes to QF. Better if its EllisLangridge. is Lee/Wang 100% fit after the Back injury?
Minions have competed in 8 Super 500+ tournaments so far. After WC, there are 6 Super 500+ tournaments left this year before the WTF. China Open Super 1000 (17-22 Sept) ; Korea Open Super 500 (24-29 Sept) Denmark Open Super 750 (15-20 Oct) ; French Open Super 750 (22-27 Oct) Fuzhou China Open Super 750 (05-10 Nov) ; Hong Kong Open Super 500 (12-17 Nov) They are currently at #4 in Road to Guangzhou. Looking at their tournaments schedule up till this month, I think they will play in all 6 world tour S500+ left, 2 extra more than the mandatory of 12 tournaments a year. Marcus has said that because they were not going to play in Super 300 tournaments, they had to win points by playing more Super 500 to make up for their Tokyo qualification points. Is WTF points counted for Olympics qualification, btw?
Thanks Right. So the more I am certain they will participate in all Super 6 Super 500+ tournaments and try to qualify for WTF for the huge bonus points if their conditions permit. All the best, Kevin. And Marcus. I wonder if they will wear new jersey
Of course there is something that Kevin cant have too? My feel is AhsanHendra is the favourite for the WC title. Their draw is the easiest out of their competitors. Could not have asked to get the easiest QuarterFinal opponents.
