Would be pretty embarrassing if LD and CL would lose in the early rounds at the All England despite 'saving energy'... :D

Li Yinhui has a great chance to achieve the "doubles double" again.

Marin withdrew because of "a little injury" according to her instagram account. Maybe she is being extra cautious keeping in mind the big tournament next week.

Are you kidding me? Did the interviewer just say sentence instead of set (which is the same word in German, "Satz")? Ridiculous! :(

TBH, This Year's German Open hasn't been organised properly. Lin Dan's match with Emilie took place at 11 pm in the night. Lin Dan looked like he was about to sleep any moment. pOOr.

I don't know why nobody of the organizers told them to be quiet... where were the parents? It's their responsibility. Although it did not seem to have disturbed the players, but us as spectators - on the internet or live.

How come there's another German Open 2017 thread, so confusing ?

Ya, those kids are really annoying, causing a public nuisance, why didn't the tournament officials do something about it ? It's clearly heard live on TV, reflects badly on the organizer.

    My explaination is following:

The innogy arena is surround by a bunch of different schools. I asked a kid/teenager "Warum seid ihr nicht in der Schule?" and he told me that they are here with their teachers. The Yonex German Open are a big event for Mulheim, so I think that some classes visited the stadium during the week.

Final round was concluded yesterday only one tie who involved two finalists from different nations that arranged by the organizer as first match due to Li Yinhui played twice. Akane Yamaguchi topped podium without lifting her racket as Carolina Marin conceded walkover, China, Denmark and Chinese Taipei clinched 1 title each and Japan scooped two titles.

Only few badminton fans who could predict Chou Tien Chen nailed MS crown, one step better than last year outcome. Chou almost bit the dust in last sixteen when he saved match point then thwarted Danish promising star Anders Antonsen for quarterfinal spot. The runner-up Wang Tzu Wei created biggest breakthrough in his badminton career to knocked out the reigning Olympic Champion, Chen Long in semifinal. China has big blow in this category where their two prominent names even couldn't reach finale, earlier five times World Champion also defending champion Lin Dan got unexpected defeat to the underdog Emil Holst in third round. 4th seed Tian Houwei once again displayed inconsistency form, sent packing by Japan teenager Kanta Tsuneyama in first round. The competition is really tight nowadays with so many emerging talents rise up to spread threat for established shuttlers. We'll see whether this week All England will present another unpredictable result as well...

Japanese ladies certainly pose difficult test for Spanish sensation Carolina Marin who needed three games and marathon match to tame Sayaka Sato and Minatsu Mitani. Third Japanese player awaited her in last round, too bad she's injured then couldn't show up to end title drought after Rio OG. 19 years old Akane Yamaguchi had tough path en route to final, two tight games against the unheralded Danish player Mette Poulsen then pushed extra effort to eliminate next opponents, Sabrina Jaquet and Cheung Ngan Yi. In semifinal she involved in gruelling battle before edged out Zhang Beiwen, 24-22 / 21-19.

Japan pocketed second title in Mulheim an der Ruhr through Sayaka Hirota/Yuki Fukushima, the Japanese came back from behind to trounce Chinese duo, Huang Dongping/Li Yinhui with tactical play. Without lethal combination Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, China WD pairs seem vulnerable and unreliable, they're still seeking another solid pair to accompany Chen/Jia.

Thomas Cup champion Denmark showed their superiority in Men's Doubles discipline, Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen and Mads Conrad Petersen/Mads Pieler Colding created all Danish final here. Indonesia skipped this GP Gold to concentrate on next two tournaments in Birmingham and Basel while Korea is experiencing deep crisis after their core players called quit. Big upset saw top seed and pre-tournament favourite Takeshi Kamura/Keigo Sonoda were stunned by recent Scottish GP winner Mathias Christiansen/David Daugaard in two straight-sets.

Li Yinhui redeemed her WD losing to capture second XD title after Thailand Masters last month with her partner the Olympic Champion Zhang Nan, they saved five game points to grab opening game, 22-20 against teammates Lu K/Huang Yaqiong. The second set was a gone case for world number 6 Lu/Huang. The champion Zhang/Li passed two elite pairs in their way to last round with thrilling match to eliminate Rio silver medalists Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying in last eight and The Adcocks at semifinal.
