Has anyone played an advanced version of this? With the push for pros to switch to Exbolt 65 from BG80, I’m wondering if this is designed to bridge that gap even more for those that weren’t convinced.

I liked the repulsion of 63, but found it too crisp feeling for me, and not solid enough. 65 was much better, but curious about the 68. Otherwise I’ll just have to wait for my next restring.

Wow, looking forward to this. Could this be an upgrade of the BG80? Personally I feel like the Exbolt 65 was the upgrade of the 66Ultimax.

If it lasts longer than BG80, feels the same and only a tiny bit more expensive than BG80 then I might change.

You should really give Li-Ning N68 a try. Doesn't feel "the same" of course, but is closer than anything else I've played so far.

going by the one set that I've tried yes, it lasted longer and felt a lot less sensitive to our cold halls in winter (@27 lbs.). But I guess it depends a lot on the personal playing style.

From CKYew's comment: "I don’t think Exbolt 68 is designed to replace BG80. And also, 68 doesn’t feel as hard as the 80. The 68 is designed for durability whilst the 80 is for repulsion/feel, they just happen to have the same string diameter."

    Both strings at this tension?

I am wondering if Exbolt should be strung a bit higher.

    Here's my review.
    With exb 63,65
    Repulsion 63>65>68
    Control 68>63>65
    Hitting sound same with repulsion
    Durability 65>63
Don't know about exb 68 durability but I will choose exb 68

    With bg 80, vbs 68
    Repulsion Vbs68>exb68>bg80
    Control BG80>vbs68>exb68
    Hitting sound exb68>vbs68>bg80
    Durability vbs68> bg80
Don't know about exb 68 durability but I will choose BG 80 if I don't care about price and durability.
But if I care, I will choose vbs 68.

Maybe my opinion will change if I know about it's durability, exb 68 is durability Yonex strings

Is the exbolt 68 as hard feeling as the bg80 ?
Did you tried aerobite? If yes, how would they compare against each other?

Asked a shop owner his opinion on EX68. He mentioned its very good, but one thing it really lacks is repulsion. Wouldn't recommend unless you are one who is more of control then attacking.

    I have Exbolt 68 at 28lbs.

I also previously tried Exbolt 65 at 27lbs.

I also have Aerobite boost at 27lbs

I felt Exbolt 65 is quite similar to Bg80. No big difference that would compel me to change. Lifetime of Exbolt 65 is near Bg80 - if there is a difference, it might not be very large.

Aerobite Boost is a bit softer but for me, it’s has a special quality - I can do more netrolls with it. I once did about six netrolls on one game.

Exbolt 68 does feel thicker when the shuttle hits the stringbed. It’s less responsive in repulsion and I think that’s up to the player themselves how they prefer that quality.

    No comment on durability.

I'm surprised by this. Exbolt 65 consistently lasts twice as long as BG80 for me.

i tried exbolt 68 last week, i feel its a nice string, similar feel to 65 but the string bed feels very hard

i wasn't convinced it was going to be a good string after stringing it. but once i played with it... it seems similar to bg80 but not as loud when smashing
