European U17 Team and Individual Event

Just a question ???

hi

This competition wil be very interesting !!

But do you know why 2 big european countries not entrie : Germany and Netherland ???

It's quite incomprehensible. That's the biggest competition in Europe !!!

Yes suprising, maybe because it's such a long event over a week
Just checked and they didn't enter last time either

Other than the Danish :) events & team matches are pretty open

Following the U19, my prediction for the U17

:

MS: Viktor Axelsen [1] vs Kyrylo Leonov [5/8] (/Emre Sale [9/16])
WS: Caro Marin [1] vs Kirsty Gilmour [2]
MD: Colberg/Paulsen [1] vs Corvee/Grosjean [2]
WD: Juel/Poulsen [1] vs Madsen/van Zaane [3/4]
XD: Emre Lale/Neslihan Kilic [1] vs Colberg/Poulsen [2] (/Jim Middelburg/Soraya De Visch Eijbergen [5/8]

Too many 1's versus 2's :o

Alternatively for MS top-half: Anatoliy Yartsev [3/4] (Marat Safin only quit yesterday, changed name and turned up at the EJC U17 )
Already beat #1 seed Vik Axe in the team tourney so interesting to see if the dane can get even, which I counted on above ...

Misread the brackets, Kyrylo Leonov of Ukraine is in the top half as well likely to meet russian Baby Marat.
Which leaves the bottom half open to lefty Emre Sale but could just as well turn out to be Daniel v Hooijdonk following his brother Jamie's footsteps at the U19 earlier this year or korean born second seed Kim Bruun of Denmark ...

Anatoliy Yartsev aka Baby Marat / Marat Jr.

(look at his legs!)

DEN still dominating Europe. Even their juniors. :p
BTW, this Kim Bruun, is he of Asian-descent?

Yes, he was born in Korea. Possibly adopted, though I don't know for sure. Perhaps he has a Korean mother and a Danish father as Bruun is definitely a Danish name.

Viktor is only 94!

That means he is only under 16 now and therefore can play u17's aswell next year!

The only problem for him: there won't be a EJC U17 next year. It's gonna be every other year.

On the other hand, there is a WJC U19 each year, so 14-year-old Ratchanok Intanon from Thailand could win the GS title 4 more years.
