It's clear prediction that INA could gain two points from their doubles aces since China only bring the lower-ranked and unknown youngsters to fill their doubles slot but China still has advantage in singles discipline with two of them are top ten players. It's Fitriani who produced stellar performance and sparked her team glimmer of hope to ruin China plot, eliminated current World Championships bronze medalist Chen Yufei in rubber games. First time ever for team INA to defeat CHN since 1996 Uber Cup Final. At adjacent court, KOR trounced TPE, 5-0 and JPN dropped first match as Akane Yamaguchi lost straight-sets to Glasgow WC silver medalist, Pusarla V. Sindhu. In second session, Thailand joins the club to top group Y after experienced gruelling battle to beat host Malaysia, 3-2. Thai scooped three points through their well-improved singles ladies, Nitchaon Jindapol, Pornpawee Chochuwong and Busanan Ongbamrungphan. In men's team preliminary round, Shi Yuqi and compatriots create 5-0 whitewash over Hong Kong, delivers CHN on top of group A. World ranking means nothing for Korean squad, Son Wan Ho won crucial opening tie against Kenta Nishimoto in very close contest, Japan leveled it soon through Kamura/Sonoda who beat KOR future pair Seo SJ/Kim WH. Then Jeon Hyeok Jin conquered recent INA Masters beaten finalst, the more experienced Kazumasa Sakai. Took leading 2-1, Korean #169, Choi Sol Gyu/Kim Duk Young capitalised the under pressure situation to outclass world #18, Hoki/Kobayashi, 21-9 / 21-9. Japan trump card, Kento Momota closed the gap to down Heo Kwang Hee in three sets. World number two Lee Chong Wei led Malaysia squad to create perfect score 5-0 over Chinese Taipei, stirs team MAS on right track after tasted shocking 2-3 lost to THA on previous tie. The iconic shuttler Lee dropped first game before tuned in his finest to beat Wang Tzu Wei, 17-21 / 21-13 / 21-15. Wang's losing followed by his countrymen that impacted Chinese Taipei failed to progress into knock-out stage. Group D favourite Indonesia involved in high-intense clash with India despite INA had good start to pick up first point through Jonatan Christie who eliminated the off-form Srikanth Kidambi with identical scoreline, 21-17 / 21-17. The rising Indian men's doubles Rankireddy/Shetty level the score 1-1 after beat scratch pair Ahsan/Sukamuljo, 18-21 / 21-18 / 24-22. Indian men's team gave INA camp a scare after Sai Praneeth surprised Anthony Ginting in two staright games, but soon second men's doubles pair Pratama/Saputro keep INA hope alive and last match Mustofa secured group-winner for INA.

Phew, MAS just got lucky with a draw against HKG, but this is not the time to relax. I hope they can play all out tomorrow.
That's a 'do or die' meeting between both teams. The winner grab the slot for Thomas Cup and the loser wouldn't qualified for Thomas Cup. No more chance to use team ranking at all for both teams.
Might be quite close too. LCW has been troubled by NKL before and WWK can be tough. Also we know that the MAS doubles are quite problematic.
An year or two ago with HuYun or atleast Wei Nan still in fray HKG team could've vaporised the hosts dreams and their fans chance to see LCW in yet another TC. Tomorrow the chances are slim, let's hope NKL is prepared, the tone of the tie will set then and there
I want to see Momota tomorrow. I like the matchup between Nishimoto vs. Jojo and Sakai vs. Ginting. Ginting can handle Sakai comfortably. Jojo defeated Nishimoto last time around they played in the same Asia Championship final. Ihsan is going to have a heavy burden to meet Kento Momota tomorrow.
Oh yes. Agreed. On paper, msia should go through. However, the msian players are more "well known" for their up-down performance from/within events/matches/games. At the top, most matches are played in between their ears. I have seen some, of the msian players; dont know the hk players. It will be an evening for all concerned.
Organizer choose JPN vs TPE of all tie, might as well be a slaughter. I would rather watch CHN vs THA.
Momota as third singles is Japan's trump card, if the tie in hanging on the balance 2-2, Japan has advantage to advance.
Women's team QUARTERFINAL : JPN v TPE => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...B903522-3120-484E-B0BF-2E923920DD85&match=119 It will be quick match, 3-0 victory for top contender Japan KOR v MAS => https://www.tournamentsoftware.com/...B903522-3120-484E-B0BF-2E923920DD85&match=122 A tough task for host Malaysia to topple strong Korean ladies. Both Malaysia and Hong Kong have very inconsistent players (Even LCW is not spared from inconsistency these days!) It can honestly go either way. Malaysia will probably try to win a point through LCW and both doubles as usual.
Two women's team frontrunner, Japan and Korea pass quarterfinal round smoothly, 3-0 victory over Chinese Taipei and host Malaysia respectively. Japan has only little trouble in second WS where Nozomi Okuhara edged past Lee Chia Hsin, the reigning world champion is hampered by injury that forced to miss several tournament lately and not yet back to her best. Former World Junior Champion, Goh Jin Wei stole opening game before faltered in next two games to Lee Jang Mi. Earlier match, Sung Ji Hyun and Lee/Shin trounced their rivals in straight-games.
As expected team Indonesia march on to last four, they're unfazed to lose opening tie, Fitriani lost to high calibre player Pusarla Sindhu. Then INA squad took three remaining points to end the tie with overall scoreline, 3-1. Tough foe Japan will await next, this star-studded team is hot favorite to lift the trophy unless Indonesia could produce miracle tomorrow.
