LoL. Neither is Yoo mentally tough, nor is Shin a heavy smasher. Yoo gets very nervous on key points, the 2011 WC Semi and Final would be examples (making quite a few bad errors at the end of close games, and had real trouble ending the Semi). Not saying he isn't a great player, but mentally he isn't really strong. His anticipation is also lacking a bit to be a very good net player. Shin has a great smash, but he can't sustain it like Ko and Jung can. I agree Ko is not quite on the same level as Jung was yet, but he is young and can learn - also he and Lee aren't settled in yet. Jung/Lee didn't start their partnership by winning everything either. His angle isn't quite the same as Ko's either (did you ever see how HIGH he gets up? It's crazy!). I believe Ko is a great partner for Lee - he has great attacking shots from the back court, is very very quick around the court (better than Jung even), and just needs a little time to settle with Lee and improve his defense. He isn't great around the net - but neither was Jung, and that's not really his part in this partnership. I think the current pairings are very good - Shin/Yoo are a very versatile pairing, and while they have no great net player, both are decent in the area and Shin shows real promise there. Kim/Kim mesh together really well, and have a great net player in Kim Ki Jung and both superb defense. Lee/Ko have the best net player and best smasher of the 3 pairings, but aren't quite able to convert it yet. But the fashion in which they won the US/Canada Open last year showed they have potential as a partnership, and can be great if Ko can get a bit more steady and cut down on errors and bad choices.
