Reason is someone in the higher place wants them to play.
Well then, if I were LCW, being forced to play in a tourny, the timing of which undermines his SS preparations and advantage, I will play to lose in the first round so he can take unscheduled rest. This will embarrass and put fear into the idiot so hopefully he can think better and boss no more in a detrimental manner. If you can't say no to a poor decision maker, you can sabotage him indirectly.LCW should know he has bargaining power and it's time he uses it when needed. He shouldn't let himself be pushed around and should offer to quit if the one higher up wants to play games by exercising 'mindless power'.LCW should only play SS and get used to limited opportunities to win titles. There should be no GP Gold safety nets to get ranking points because the more he plays, the less he'll win.Concentrating solely on SS will help him develop focus and send the message to other players he's in the top class (which he is). It's important to reinforce this image because 50% of his opponents' loss is predecided by how they perceive him.
I'm sure the 'someone in the higher place' wants them to win too
it's sad what's happend. And if players choose not to come it will be understandable.
But i am sure the State govt. has increased all the security.also i hope that the tournament organisers ask for and are given extra security.
Hopefully the tournament does go on.
The answer to that is ranking pts for Olympics. If the players reach the finals then they will get pts.But if they do skip the Indian Open and play only in the SS and crash out in the 3rd round or so then they will see their rankings drop.so maybe that's the reason.
pray that they will postponed this tournament for now.. it is proven to be unsafe for now... till higher level security takes place...
The tournament is canceled.
Are you sure?
Cancelled and not postponed?
yes, its better cancel the tourny, it is not wise to risk your life as a sportman to play in a tournament, ....no body know what would happen.....its a good decission made by the organizer.....maybe other time..
Just had a chat with LCW earlier. He told me that they are not going already. Its cancelled.
Thanks for the information, Ants...
As I feared... Ok, it is cancelled then... Understandable...

When its "postponed to an indefinite date". Usually its cancelled. Just that Postphoned sound nicer hehe.
I hope BWFs really keep their words, so badminton more popular around the world ^_^
Argh, Taufik needs those ranking points!
If its canceled for this year. Maybe they will have it next year instead.
Knowing the full schedule of the rest of this year... I will not be surprised... If I were them, I will put Indian Open close to the Malaysian Open early next year. Better for the top player's schedule. I can imagine Candra-Tony etc. can use this as a warm-up tournament leading to the 2008's first Superseries....
so the India Open still on or not? Heard that Malaysia may withdraw their player due to the boom attack..any news?
BWF website said it is postponed indefinitely...
Next time read the thread. Its canceled for 2007. Maybe they will have it in 2008.
