Rising Chinese men's badminton star Bao Chunlai has cruised to the next round at the 170,000-US-dollar Singapore Open, along with Chen Hong.

Third-seeded Bao grabbed the victory over Dutchman Eric Pang 2-1, and Chen Hong took an easy win over Bjoern Joppien with 2-0.

However, the tenth-seeded player, China's Chen Yu, lost to top seed Peter Gade with 1-2.

In the women's singles events, all three Chinese players, Chen Li, Zhu Lin and Lu Lan, have entered the next round with 2-1 victories over their opponents.
China's women displayed their power in the doubles event after all the three pairs advanced into the quarterfinals without losing a set.

Meanwhile, two Chinese teams have made it through to the mixed-doubles quarters, while the men's pairs bowed out in the second round.
