Yeah it was Zheng Bo's fault.

Agreed! Awsome game and they deserved it! Now they have beaten the best there should be no stopping them. How many matches do they need to win now to get gold?

    I was ZB's fault. :)

He made mistakes (I'd say) even medium level club players would know not to make. :(

When ZB/GL were up 16-11, ZB tried to force every shot to Gail when she was at midcourt or at the net. As a result, Gail had quite a few put aways and smash winners. Then when Nathan and Gail were making a comeback to about 16-15, ZB started to try and press on the return as well as play it safe. He was lifting short to Nathan and Nathan put it away and/or gave Gail an easy net winning shot.

This is a good lesson (especially for Panda), you cannot force the shot. If the opponent hits a good shot, you just have to admit it and lift...deep. If you force it, you will pay. :p

What ZB should have done, which got them to 16-11 was just continue to lift deep to Nathan when a lift was warranted and not try to force everything at Gail. Nathan doesn't have that one shot put away smash and tires relatively easy. Oh well.

If GL partnered with a partner with better control and shot selection (such as Nathan), they'd be nearly unbeatable in the present time.

Regardless, congrats to both teams. :)

in badminton....the mental pressure is there.....When everyone expect u to win(more like sure win), even the best ranking player will fall. Luck also play a part.

I agree ZB makes many unforced errors....but he is human.....no? cheers bros

Lin Dan totally upset his apparent bogeyman and super-protege of Li Mao, Park Sung Hwan.

    That's great for LD.Upsetting PSH.
Maybe he decided to risk it by doing a fast start (instead of his usual slow one) like he did against LCW in SWO08 MSF.
Maybe he mimicked Sho Sasaki who have a perfect 3-0 record over PSH.
But does this mean PG wouldn't stand a chance in QF?

Good revenge for the ENG pair over GL (with ZJ in 2004). I remember in OG2004, GL/ZJ over came numerous match points to capture the gold over ENG pair. Well, the table is turned this time.

Totally agree. They are EXTREMELY unsportsmanlike, big-headed. I think they are decent players (admittedly, a tad more than decent) but their personalities repulse me (same with clark and kellog, mostly kellog.). I am disgusted at how Nathan acted when they won that match. Ling was smiling as usual, being the first to say well done. Shes fantastic.

Bo made most of the mistakes you all say, and i agree. I have no idea way he was playing uber defensively and when they were like..5 points clear, and inviting the attack on them. Most of his bad decisions left Ling in a bad position and gave the english pair spaces and angles to pressure her with.

If Ling was ever paired with someone at her own level ( or even a tad less than her level) that would be the most unstopable pair EVER. gao ling is a legend and IMO the best XD player EVER. No offense to Zheng, as he's a very good player- but Ling deserves someone better.

Again, another CHN pair that I actually like and lost.
Prolly GL's last Olympic but at least she already won two golds.
