This is the description on the Rogers website for Fox Sports World in Canada: Soccer is the fastest growing sport in the world. Now FOX Sports World Canada brings you some of the best soccer the world has to offer. With an emphasis on the sports the others miss, FSWC is a sports channel devoted to soccer, cricket and rugby. Whether you are a new fan or a lifelong follower, FOX Sports World Canada brings you a whole new world of choice. How come "emphasis on the sports others miss" doesn't include badminton?!?!? BS advertising. I was hoping to get WTSN for maybe an extra $2/mth but noooo.... Rogers wants me to pay $8+tax to get 8(!) other sports channels I don't care about.
If letter writing campaigns can bring back star trek... i'm sure it can bring badminton to a sports channel dedicated to "sports that other channels miss"
I think it'll be awhile before we can identify with the trekkies. Imagine national badminton conventions where badminton diehards from all over meet some- where to mingle, dressed (complete with makeup or mask and fake hair) like their favourite on-court heroes.
From what I hear, there are lots of events where local/provincial/national badminton lovers get together dressed like their players, complete in badminton shorts, shirts, and racquet, to do mimic their favorite players by playing badminton. And every week!
Badminton On WTSN! When I first read that WTSN was showing China Open and Thailand Open matches, I just shrugged because I only have 4 TV channels, of which 2 are semi blurry! But this morning at school, one of my best friends came up to me in computer class and sayed "man, I have a special badminton surprise for you!" and pulls a video tape. It turned out he was flipping through his 300+ channels last night and caught the China Open matches halfway through the WD finals. Knowing I loved badminton, he had the consideration to record it for me and he actually watched the whole thing even though he finds badminton quite boring! Now, all I gotta do is get him to record Thailand Open... Well anyway, regarding the matches: In XD, I noticed Zhang Jun is playing much smarter now than I remembered him. On many occasions, where other players would proabably have cleared, he did quick drives and caught Chen QiQiu off guard. Also, he had some nice behind-the-back returns. Chen QQ and Zhao TT need to play more consistently against Zhang/Gao and have more confidence. They were up 4-1 in second game and ended up losing 11-4. Anybody else watch the matches and have any thoughts regarding them??
Hugo, In regard to your best friend fliping through 300+ channels and found badminton games, could you find out what TV carrier? I presume is satellite TV? I'm interest to find out if it's available in Ontario. Thanks.
I am pretty sure if you have bell express vu, you should be able to get it if you subscribed to it. Same with cable.
Hi bbjj, My friend has StarChoice Satellite but however, WTSN is available on cable and digital cable too. The next badminton showing on WTSN will be the Thailand Open on Tuesday, march 18, 2003 starting at 10 PM Eastern Time. This will be re-aired on Wednesday, March 19, 2003 from 3:00 - 5:30 AM & 4:30 - 6:00 PM. BTW, he's already agreed to record it for me!
Badminton on TV in Canada Hello! I live in Canada and I want to know if there are any other TV stations here that play badminton. I already have WTSN and CBC, which rarely play badminton though. So I'm askin which TV stations should I get, either through digital cable or satellite, so I can watch badminton frequently and some high profile tournaments?
I believe such a thing does not exist in this country . Although satelite might be able to provide coverage if you find any that offer the asian sports channels that frequently cover badminton (Star Sports is one I think). I also suggest looking for video tape coverage. If you live in Ottawa, you could always try to check out A level tournaments held at the RA Centre. They aren't the best in the world but some national team players do play there from time to time. Nothing beats watching badminton live .
Re: Badminton on TV in Canada chance of seeing Elvis on the street would be higher than seeing badminton on tv.
Re: Re: Badminton on TV in Canada How about chance of winning 6/49? Can buy plane tickets to all tournaments and build own court in backyard or basement...
Re: Re: Re: Badminton on TV in Canada true but that still won't change the chance of seeing badminton on canadian tv
Re: Re: Re: Re: Badminton on TV in Canada I agree. What's nSmash's comment have to do with anything related?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Badminton on TV in Canada Darn... I guess $30mil isn't enough to buy a TV station... Err... consolation?
Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Badminton on TV in Canada I purchased a consumer-grade television broadcast station for $20 a few years ago... it only had a range of 100 feet but it still worked nonetheless. You can even choose between either channel 14 or 17! You can buy bigger kits with 2km range for around $1000 from what I remember.
