    Hmm..

..actually no. I saw the thread and was curious to see why it had reached the 3rd page already. So i clicked on the last page of this thread and upon reading a couple of the posts, i realized it was a joke.
However, i felt a bit bad for the first few readers of this post, who thought the story is real.

I guess BC is not 100% "fool proof", yet...:p ;)

I was about to blame it on the long-lasting saga between the heavyweights of BWF and WBF and how this had trickled down the ears of the heavyweights of the IOC which finally decided on the demise of badminton, at least from the Olympics.

Not until I followed up by reading the next part...

Thank goodness, I wasn't as rash as I used to be, otherwise ... :D:D:D

    Um, you're off on Rackets.
It was once an Olympic sport (MS and MD).
The only occasion was the 1908 Olympic Games, London.

However, at London, only 7 players competed.
And they were all from one nation - Great Britain!

Of course, the sport was shown the door :p

Here's the relevant part of that news alert from Reuters:

    * World badminton officials were close to spitting feathers on Tuesday when an article on a Web site reported the sport was being dropped from the 2012 Olympic Games.

However, when they saw that the name of the writer 'Ekaf Retroper' was 'Fake Reporter' spelled backwards they realised it was an April Fool's joke.

"I was taken in (initially) ... when they got to the part about chess or croquet replacing us, then it was clear," Badminton World Federation vice-president Robin Bryant told Reuters.

    Score one for BC! ;)

Double checked the "laer" AFP to find the "laer" source, and found this short article on Reuters too. That was good one, Oldhand!

Neat! Could've been better if it wasn't for a handful of spoilers posted by some people who really deserved to get axed. :D

It's good to know at least someone at BWF is scouring the papers. All your hard work paid off after all. :):):D:D

Don't blame BC for this......if it really happens you will be public enemy No.1 in every badminton court.

that's incredible. imagine the chain of events that has to happen for this to occur.

firstly, we needed Oldhand to join BC. check. Oldhand spends his time to write the AFD article. check. kwun see it (abeit a bit late) and post it in front page. check. Reuters reporter reads it. check. Robin Bryant reads it. check. somehow reporter and Bryants managed to hook up. check. reporter deems news newsworthy. check. Oldhand finds articles and post it back in BC. check.

    Brilliant, Oldhand, absolutely brilliant!
