LCW is 100% going to ABC. Misbun's reason for sending LCW :

from The Star, 1 April 2008
    http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2008/4/1/sports/20806441&sec=sports
.............Yesterday, Misbun defended his decision to field Chong Wei in the championships even though the player had hoped to get a short break from competition following a hectic schedule over the last two months.

“Chong Wei is currently very stable as the world number two. He could have taken a break but I felt that his presence in the ABC was important,” said Misbun after meeting among the coaches in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

“It is another platform for Chong Wei to push himself a little more, especially if he were to meet Chinese players.

“Chong Wei won the Asian title in 2006 but he crashed out in the last 16 last year. This time, I hope to see him reaching at least the semi-finals. It will put him in a good stead ahead of the Thomas Cup Finals (in May).”............

Misbun's expecting too much of LCW. ABC's probably his 5th competition in 2 months. In Misbun's times, he probably played 1 tournament in 2 months so he had never experienced the fatigue build up in LCW.
Better for LCW to adopt the attitude of turning up as glitter and just enjoy his badminton. No need to win this one. Win the ones that matter.

LCW should do fine. Don't worry about him.

No need to win this one???:confused:
Win the ones that matters??? :(

Is the ABC a lesser title than the NGP???

If LCW is talking about fatigue, then why the NGP?? He should have stayed home instead.

From things are looking for LCW at the ABC, the man already got himself an escape route should he not do well in the tournament - exhausted la.

If you read LCW's intv over at national gp thread, LCW wanted to skip ABC to focus on training for TC finals cos he's 1st player, 1st point for the team is important. Not so much as resting. But he did say whatever Misbun decides is fine with him.
    Different coaches/experts have different views.

Exple : Jailani Sidek (in either Harian Metro or Utusan Msia), when asked by the press, had suggested KKK/TBH dont go for tourneys before TC finals but train hard to regain their 'lost' form. Some here would consider it too cowardly a move if Rexy actually did so.

One of the ways to improve your mental toughness and overcome "Kia Su" mentality is to go and compete. If you lose...so what? Keep pressing yourself and move forward! BTW, I found out in many occasions when M'sia players said they want to concentrate / focus on training to prepare for a major tournament; the results normally turn out to be devastating!

Just interesting different points of view, although it's about different players. Same in the forum too - when LCW went for Korea SS, some said why overtax himself. KKK/TBH wasnt sent for the same Korea SS, some said why didnt go, like your view, say must train "mental toughness".

Rexy said in Jan 2008 he only send KKK/TBH to selected tourneys so as not to overtax them like what happened in 2007, but that's coach view(that has produced results too), not player. Rexy is also the type of coach that ground his players if they dont do well in tourney, like punishment-> say they must stay home & train to overcome their weakness, Misbun doesnt do that, different methods.

The tentative list (from the NST) looks to be very impressive:

    Men's Singles
China -- Lin Dan, Bao Chunlai, Chen Jin
Indonesia -- Taufik Hidayat, Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Simon Santoso
Malaysia -- all the senior players
Korea -- Park Sung Hwan, Lee Hyun Il

    Men's Doubles
Markis Kido/Hendra Setiawan, Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun, Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah, Jung Jae Sung/Lee Yong Dae, Koo Kien Keat/Tan Boon Heong, Hwang Ji Man/Han Sang Hoon (almost 100% if Jung/Lee are included), Luluk Hadiyanto/Alvent Yulianto, Guo Zhendong/Xie Zhongbo -- that's like the top Asian pairs duking it out with each other

Wow, really strong line-up in upcoming Asian meet. All Asian best will participate it?!, something rare to see in this annual continental event.

Three INA MD pairs will try their chance here are Kido/Setiawan, Luluk/Alvent and Joko Riyadi/Hendra A.Gunawan. Unfortunately, Flandy/Candra can't attend ABC because entry limitation also Rian/Yonathan and Bona/Ahsan (KOMPAS, 05 April/08).

    Dear Members

    Dear members,

The draw will only be known on 14th April 2008. This is to prevent players to withdraw last minute.
