Disappointed Kawakami won't be playing, and also surprised Takahashi will be going (considering her poor performance the last time she played a team event).

Yes surprising! Sayaka Takahashi over Aya Ohori. Infact Sato's selection is debatable.
Although don't think WS3 will matter at all. Unless somebody (CHN mostly) takes away both Doubles. Don't see that happening in near future.

If India takes both singles then it may matter.

I don't think it matters in this case. India WS3 is not even at the same level as Japan WS5 (if there is any)

It matters more if Thailand manages to win a point from Ratchanok over Akane and Sapsiree/Puttita from WD2. Then Pornpawee vs either Sayaka Sato or Takahashi will be about a 50:50 encounter

Most likely former World Champion Ahsan/Setiawan considering their vast experience playing in team event. Don't think INA would field Alfian/Ardianto or Pratama/Saputro in crucial stages.

No chance. Even RI will be "less favoured" to steal a game against JPN let alone their WD.
TakaMatsu as well as Hirota/Fukushima way too strong for "wildcard, Off swinging pairs" even TanaMoto are too good.

Also very unlikely for SN to slide off NO's tenacity just yet. Yes, she's looking better than she has for a while now, but it's NO we are talking about.

The probability if Thai forcing the 5th match is like a level below the probability for China forcing a 5th match, but I still see it very possible

I wrote it here because I still think Thai is having better chance than India in doing so, in respect to @John I'm post

    Yes that I agree.
But having said that, Thailand is in its most vulnerable form, comparing it to it's recent past. NJ is looking better than she has ever, but everybody else is on decline.

About CHN, if CYF falls under pressure in WS1 Thailand has a slim chance of grabbing all the singles and seal it. GFJ or even CXX can handle Busanan or PC imo, though.
Korea on the other hand may create an upset, it's not difficult to imagine SJH and even Jang ML taking their respective singles matches, and a chance in both the WD

But atm for all we can say there's some real gap between top 3/4 and others with Japan at solid 1st

With our "non existential" WD2 and Ruth injured again. I don't think.
TBH I really want IND to bring either Vaishnavi or Akarshi or even Purva/Malavika instead of Rituparna or Shri Krishna Priya. Atleast the former mentioned girls have chance in future.

Especially after the BAC result today. All MD pairs got wiped out in the second round. One of them retired.
Though we couldn't really say how their performances were as we couldn't watch any of the matches to really know the strength of each pair.
