Pedersen played a gruelling WD match yesterday and is a little off form today-- but Fischer always covers for her because team Denmark actually wanted her to play WD exclusively on account of Fischer being over 35 and nearing retirement anyway...

So it's not Pedersen pulling Fischer down, but Pedersen giving Fischer the chance to continue playing XD at all. Touching story when you think about it.

Agree.. He is only 22. He has the potential to be a lot better than ahsan.

I think jordan should play MD too after rio olympic. Maybe with setiawan/sukamuljo/suwardi

The silver trophy is unique to AE and originate long before the modern badminton tourney and Super Series-- most new/present-day Super Series only give you that plaque thingy.

I am never a fan of their players' "outspokenness". Well, its a fine line between outspoken and disrespectful.

Setiawan is a bit too old you think? Suwardi seems a better option than Sukamuljo?

This is the match that I certainly don't want to watch. The MD match of Russia versus Japan. Wow who would have thought that the Korean MD would lose their MD match yesterday hence they cannot play in the finals today. So sad. And then Russian MD in the finals. What an extraordinary outcome.

But then I must admit that the Korean MD really played badly yesterday. Too bad.

    CONGRATS TO PRAVEEN/DEBBY...

Passing the No.1 XD pair in the semi-finals sets their writing on the wall, be the new champion of the XD in All-England. They will be the new stars in Indonesia. I wonder if they will play in Rio along with Tontowi/Lilyana.

He also had terrible consistency and shot placement when he started out--so no wonder he was put in XD, Debby was always covering for him until he improved and really pulled his own weight like today.

So proud of Debby and Praveen...they really have made up for the loss of their compatriots Owi & Butet

Congratulation Praveen Jordan/Debby Susanto. What a convincing tournament for them, beating Cheng/Bao, Zhang/Zhao and today JFN/CP in straight sets and eventually clinch the AE title. Debby's defence has improved, a lot. And apart from his thundering smash and skill, Jordan is only issuing with errors, sometimes.

Hope to see more from them.

I think all the option have their own merit. With setiawan, jordan could raise his level to another level, like ahsan. Pairing with suwardi or sukamuljo could make a long term partnership for 2020 olympic..

Yeah, he used to be an error prone though. But Jordan was just too talented, though.

Don't mean to be a wet blanket. Winning the AE is an achievement but it is not a predictor of future performance. There are cases of one-hit wonders who won big titles but had less than impressive career performance.

Guess only time will tell if they can reach and stay at the top of the xd game :)

I just realized by now that Fischer is already 37 while Pedersen is just 29... a big gap of age between the pair. I guess after Rio Fischer gonna retire.
