    *Men's Singles Quarterfinals :
    - Lee Chong Wei (MAS) v Chou Tien Chen (TPE)
    - Lin Dan (CHN) v Srikanth Kidambi (IND)
    - Viktor Axelsen (DEN) v Rajiv Ouseph (GBR)
    - Chen Long (CHN) v Son Wan Ho (KOR)

*Mixed Doubles Gold Medal Match :
    - Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir (INA) v Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying (MAS)
    H-2-H stats : 7-1 / 3 v 11
A rematch of group stage tie, the Indonesian pair is overwhelming favourite based on their win-lose statistics and their victory over strongest rival Zhang/Zhao in last four certainly boost confidence to nail gold medal. Liliyana Natsir experienced Olympic Final painful defeat in Beijing 2008, she shouldn't waste the second chance with different partner. But this is Olympic Games, a dream event for every professional athlete, anything can happen including the luck factor is playing the role. The nothing to lose Chan/Goh defy all odds to reach final and no impossible for them to create surprise once again in finale.

It's disaster outcome for China Women's Doubles here, they fail for the first time to reach final round in Olympic arena since its inaugural edition 24 years ago in Barcelona. Tang Yuanting/Yu Yang lost tactically to 2015 World Championships silver medalist Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter-Juhl despite saved four match points in deciding game but it wasn't enough as Pedersen/Juhl prevailed, 21-19. The Danish experienced pair will face top-seed Misaki Matsutomo/Ayaka Takahashi who redeemed Uber Cup losing, beat Jung Kyung Eun/Shin Seung Chan in relatively comfortable way.

After mixed doubles and women's doubles gold medal out of reach, Fu Haifeng/Zhang Nan will be China last hopeful to carve glory in doubles department. Fu/Zhang stopped Great Britain Marcus Ellis/Chris Langridge sensational run, their final hurdle will be Malaysian Goh V Shem/Tan Wee Kiong who perform beyond expectation here, they knocked out hot favourite Lee/Yoo earlier and Chinese number two Chai Biao/Hong Wei in close semifinal contest.

Women's singles strong contenders, two-time World Champion Carolina Marin and reigning Olympic Champion Li Xuerui exhibited their fine play to eliminate Sung Ji Hyun and Porntip Buranaprasertsuk respectively. At lower half of draw, big surprise emerged yesterday, the young Indian P.V. Sindhu maintains her excellent performance to overcome London 2012 silver medalist Wang Yihan. She will take on Japanese rising star, current All England winner Nozomi Okuhara who dropped first game before bounced back in next two sets against her younger compatriot, Akane Yamaguchi.

London 2012 gold medalist Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei grab bronze medal in Rio, defeated teammates Xu Chen/Ma Jin in two quick games, 21-7 / 21-11. Men's singles quarterfinal matches are scheduled on today's morning local time, Lee-Lin classic rival is one step closer if both of them could pass Chou Tien Chen and Srikanth Kidambi respectively. Recent European Champion Viktor Axelsen is favoured to progress in last four against Rajiv Ouseph while Chen Long has stern test to face Son Wan Ho, the two-time World Champion lost to the Korean in their last meeting, Thomas Cup quarterfinal tie.

expecting upsets and surprises again. this olympics is so special. in fact, no much different between rank 1 and rank 10 player. it all depend on the day of play.

Hahaha, it's hard to keep up with this forum with working basis not like when I was a student. :D That's why some of senior members who keep posting must be really great in managing the time. ;)

Yeah, let's enjoy the game. Hopefully we will be treated with a great match.

    the easy prediction:

    for MS:

    Lee Chong Wei
    Lin Dan
    Chen Long
    Viktor Axelsen

    for MX final:
    Liliyana Natsir / Tantowi Ahmad

it will be hard for Chan/Goh to get passed N/A, but stranger things has happened there in Rio. So MAS fans should keep their hopes up.

as for MS, things never go the way we expect and what statistics tells us. only if things are that simple, right?

I predict one of the 4 MS will fall to their opponent. I think LCW is pretty solid, LD too, Viktor's opponent isn't that tough, Chen Long will have to give a good fight. if anyone of the seeds fall, i predict in this order of probability: CL > VA > LD > LCW

we will find out within 12 hours!

I would fancy N/A to win over CPS/GLY. LN is much more better net player than GLY while the 2 men it is a question of who is calmer and able to attack more.

In big tournaments, LCW always had a sad ending. Anything seems possible. Maybe an injury will force him to pull out. I heard somewhere that this year of the Monkey is full of surprises as a monkey is a mischievous one. The irrational behavior in the stock market is also a good example.

I rather not base on superstition than to work hard to achieve success. :D
LCW will most likely give us a surprise at this Rio Olympics.
