The reigning Olympic Champion in singles discipline, Lin Dan and Li Xuerui also met finish line so early. Local young hopeful Jonatan Christie redeemed his SIN Superseries defeat over his idol, two-time Olympic Champion Lin Dan. Lin seemed unmotivated and lack of power to balance Christie's attacking style. The Indonesian will set up a meeting with 2014 Champion Jan O Jorgensen, a rematch of last year quarterfinal clash when former European Champion trounced Christie convincingly. Another seeded players also tumbled yesterday was 7th seed Chou Tien Chen lost to Wang Zhengming. Wang has mammoth task to face world number two Lee Chong Wei next, the man whom he had never beaten before, 16-0 favours for Malaysian hero. Tian Houwei should be China last hope to keep the chance alive in this category, the world #6 will meet the evergreen Hong Kong player Hu Yun who eliminated Sony Dwi Kuncoro last night in a gruelling match. The reigning Olympic Champion couldn't go far in this tournament, thwarted by TPE talent Tai Tzu Ying. The 2014 Dubai SS Finals winner will take on recent All England champion Nozomi Okuhara for a place in last four. China has secured 1 semifinal spot through Wang Shixian v Sun Yu. Two intriguing quarterfinal ties at top-hal of draw will see top-seed Carolina Marin against Indian jewel Saina Nehwal and former world number one Wang Yihan has Korean hurdle, Sung Ji Hyun. Two Danish combinations presented the big upset yesterday, Conrad/Kolding and Astrup/Rasmussen as well shocked home hero, the reigning World Champion Ahsan/Setiawan and China number one Fu HF/Zhang N. The comeback Danish combination, 8th seed Boe/Mogensen also 7th seed Endo/Hayakawa as well found exit door in same stage, stunned by Kamura/Sonoda and China new partnerships Lu K/Zheng SW. Korea has guaranteed 1 semifinal spot through Lee YD/Yoo YS v Ko SH/Shin BC, two underdogs will face off today, Lu K/Zheng SW v Astrup/Rasmussen while lower half of draw will see Malaysian duo Goh/Tan v Chai B/Hong W and Kamura/Sonoda against Conrad/Kolding. Local favourite Maheswari/Polii succumbed to 2014 Commonwelath Games gold medalist but later in the evening their teammates, the relatively new pair Nuraidah/Pradipta continued to create surprise after stunned Japanese Matsuo/Naito then the Olympic Champion Tian Q/Zhao YL were their victim. Another Indonesian back-up pair, Awanda/Istirani also delivered excellent performance to overcome 6th seed Jung KE/Shin SC. Title contenders, Matsutomo/Takahashi and Tang YT/Yu Y adavanced to last eight smoothly. The Japanese top-ranked will take on complicated rival, Huang YQ/Tang JH while Tang/Yu have Korean number two Chang YN/Lee SH. A huge disappointment for home fans as their best hopeful in mixed doubles discipline Ahmad/Natsir displayed below-par performance, lost straight sets to the qualifier Kim Astrup/Line Kjaersfeldt. China pairs rule last eight round, to book four of eight spots. Zhang N/Zhao YL will be challenged by home last man standing in this department, Prasetya/Saufika. Title-holder Xu C/Ma J have tough test, Danish finest Ficher/Pedersen while 2015 WC silver medalist Liu C/Bao YX get Korean number one, Ko SH/Kim HN. The giant-killer Astrup/Kjaersfeldt will up against Lu K/Huang YQ. LIVE TV (Court 1, 01.30pm) matches : 1) Tiara Rosalia Nuraidah/Rizki Amelia Pradipta (INA) v Eefje Muskens/Selena Piek (NED) 2) Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei (CHN) v Alfian Eko Prasetya/Annisa Saufika (INA) 3) Rajiv Ouseph (ENG) v Ihsan Maulana Mustofa (INA) 4) Anggia Shitta Awanda/Ni Ketut Mahadewi Istirani (INA) v Vivian Hoo Kah Mun/Woon Khe Wei (MAS) 5) Jonatan Christie (INA) v Jan O Jorgensen (DEN)
My pleasure The TV court match selection are quite uninteresting, two WD ties and none of women's singles match will be aired LIVE at court 1
Holy Moly...! Jonatan got a win out of LD. Got to see the match probably someone has it recorded. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Because for once Ina have 2 WD in QF on home soil and none Ina WS advance to QF. So excuse the organizers for being patriotic
Yup, I know the reason. At least the local organizer should telecast one of WS matches LIVE, Marin v Nehwal or Okuhara v Tai TY should be more exciting to watch for most of badminton fans

Only 5 Indonesians and all are aired Live Nowadays it seemed the TV station has more power on who to put on TV court. I remember last time, BWF and other sponsors have power on who to put on TV court
If SN has to win today she must back up her "stay in the rally" attitude with some morale booster shrieks like the "Common" chants, she has really got chances of winning! She looked quite fit (atleast to me) yesterday and pretty strong BH

I don t think so. In Thomas Cup, JC unlikely to have full crowd support to energise and embolden him plus he s likely to be nervous under TC pressure. Just like when he played LD the first time in Singapore, he was a nervous wreck and went down quickly. And like any rising star, he did his homework on LD and returned the favour even quicker. In fact, LD must be so surprised by JC s progress, his gears got stuck!! The poor 2x Olympic champion, 5x World champion never had a chance, did he? Similar to LCW getting shocked by Sai Praneeth in AE. All these youngsters with belief and no respect for multi medalled champions are dangerous like quicksand. Except MAS youngsters; they either don t have belief or stamina.
WYH loses the script in G2 and she can be very stubborn. Instead of changing tactics, she persists in doing the same thing which the opponent is anticipating.
