I think BWF was a little too over eager in rolling out hawk eye because it seems it's very rushed and not quite perfected yet. They may need more data to work with to make more adjustments. Back to the match however, Santoso is definitely hitting his spots very well. He's hitting the lines frequently and LCW just can't seem to match with his retrieving ability, a slow start.
Cries of 'Lee Chong Wei, LCW..." by his fans may hopefully uplift his spirits but he is still down 10-13.
Now there is a 4-point gap in SS's favour 15. A long rally ended with another SS down the line smash. But LCW gained back 2 points with net cross and a cross court smash. 13-19
SS finishes the game 21-15 with an excellent line clipping slice smash to set up the short lift from LCW and a big power smash to finish the rally. Anyone care to make predictions? I don't know how SS has looked physically or how fit he is right now. Think he can win in 3 if LCW takes the second?
After all, the shuttlecock, the cork itself, is shaped as a hemisphere not a full sphere as in tennis ball, so, to be frank, I'm not too sure how Hawk-Eye technology as it stands configures it as a circle to show where it landed. That's something for the engineers and technologists to work on. Unless it's a work-in-progress, we've to accept it for what it is for the time being; technology will keep improving as time goes by. My 2 cents.
i think datuklee will win the next 2games... simon game has changed a bit thus there is some elements of surprise in the 1st game...
I didn't mention that but I noticed that as well. The graphic they are using seems to be the exact same as what they use for Tennis because the ball squashes in that exact manner. But the shuttlecock head doesn't collapse like a ball does because it's rigid, with no air inside. So the spot should be almost perfectly round at impact no matter how hard it hits the ground. It's most definitely a work in progress
Hard to say at this point. SS certainly has made a good impact and is not intimidated by the occasion. And he is still leading 4-1 in G2.
With nothing to lose and under no pressure, Simon can play freely and fearlessly whereas LCW appeared too relaxed and a bit casual in G1. Even LCW's judgement is somewhat clouded - is he having a bad day ? Anyway, Simon is on top of his game.
