None of last year champion will defend their title this time including local hero Nguyen Tien Minh.

Pretty good line-up in MS discipline : Son Wan Ho, Simon Santoso, Alamsyah Yunus, Wei Nan, etc

Ng Ka Long should focus in doubles with Lee Chun Hei. Look at how Lee is performing now in XD with Chau Hoi Wah.

It's good to see the rivalry between INA's most promising talents in MS: Jonathan Christie (born in 1997) and Ihsan Maulana Mustofa (born in 1995). Ihsan won the Bronze medal at last month's WJC and beat Jo in last week's Kejurnas (INA National Championships) in two tight-sets.

Meanwhile, Jo still has one more attempt at the AJC & WJC in 2014 (after finishing in the last 8) and he has beaten Ihsan twice this year: today at the Vietnam GP (in 3 sets) and also in Maldives IC 2013. He already won the INA IC title, beating Alamsyah Yunus in straight-sets. Incidentally, Alam will again be his opponent for a place in the last 8!

Muhd Bayu Panghisthu
will also be INA's hope in the AJC & WJC next year. He put up a decent fight against more experienced Wei Nan, losing in two tight-sets: 18-21, 18-21. Bayu also won the Maldives IC 2013.

So, a glimmer of light perhaps for INA's MS after several years of false hope (in Riyanto and Vito in particular).

Simon Santoso also advances to R16 where he's scheduled to meet Chan Yan Kit [3]. It won't be an easy ride to the title for either Simon or Alam.

It seems their career is stucked so far. Riyanto, 20 and Vito 19 y.o., we'll see next year whether any progress or not.

The match between Alam and Jo seems to be a long one.....let's see whether the youngster can upset the veteran.

Simon Santoso and Fran Kurniawan/Bona Septano stroll to the QF after an easy victory. Simon will face Xue Song for a place in the last 4, while Fran/Bona are eyeing their first GP title with a QF date vs a young THA pair.

In the WS, Maria Febe Kusumastuti and Hera Desi are targeting an all-INA Semi-Final. Febe will face Pornpawee Chochuwong while Hera will face Hsu Ya-Ching.

An 80-mins hard-fought battle between Alamsyah Yunus and Jonathan Christie which ended in the veteran's victory in 3-sets: 19-21, 24-22, 21-15. Jo nearly took the match (with the deuce in the second-set) and it has been a good learning experience for the 17 yo youngster.

Alam will now take on Wei Nan for a place in the SF. That will be another long match as all the 3 matches between these 2 players have all ended in rubber-set.

Komala Dewi/Meiliana Jauhari also survived a 3-sets battle as they look forward for a possible SF spot, facing a TPE pair tomorrow.
