Will Cordon vs LCW be aired, or at least recorded?? I so want to see that match !! it would be a shame if it weren't shown on TV !!
Should be as it is scheduled on Court 1 , as well as the much anticipated MD of Koo/Tan v Ko/Yoo Was just watching the 1987 final and funny to see Morten Frost already using backhand short serve regularly ... Only one minor (or major) flaw about the Cordon - Abian match it that Frost wasn't the commentator. No idea who this Richard Coughman (Kaufman?) is ...
not too sure who this guy is either, however I think I recognize his voice from somewhere (possibly OG08 commentry) anyway Morten Frost is the Singles expert he should have been in the comm box, although I suppose they are working on a rotational basis between the three of them, and he did comment on the Gade/Santoso match (he is even more useful when Danish players are playing cause he translates what the coaches say) and also he provides an insight into what he thinks the player should do. Where's Ian Wright ?
It's good to see Bona/Ahsan triumphing over Guo/Chai in their 4th attempts. Meanwhile, Mel/Grace also won as expected and will challenge their perrenial rival Suetsuna/Maeda in the QF.

isn't it John Burgess? he called out Badminton Central during one of the previous WCs...
The Last 16 ..... ..... round is typically where the haves are separated from the have nots. And it was no different today. Some of the heavyweights did have to endure a heavy storm but by and large, they got into the next round relatively intact. But first up, was LCW. The World No 1 went off like lightning in his match against Park Sung Hwan. Really, Park was made to look slow throughout the match, a pale comparison against the man who once was able to keep LD and LCW very honest until about 2 years ago. On the other hand, the Malaysian XD combination had the problem of finishing. No doubt they were almost equal in standard, but just in the Commonwealth Games, some Yao Lei magic put the Singaporeans on the right footing. Really, Yao Lei should concentrate to XD and forgo her WD partnership with Shinta Mulia Sari - it's just not working. If her partner Triyachart could improve his fitness, speed and, ahem, weight, they could be a strong contender for the future. Up came cute Reiko Shiota and her partner Ikeda. But her cuteness is no match to the home favourites of Bankier and Adcock. Despite working almost tirelessly for an hour, finally the Japanese had to concede and the tournament lost another cutesy factor ......:crying: CSC vs Carolina Marin is a match between a previous World Championship high achiever against the current high achiever. In 2005 Cheng Shao Chieh went all the way to the semifinals while still a World Junior Champion. Success had been few and far between since then, but now CSC took the opportunity against some long rallies to defeat Miss Marin. Good effort from Marin, obviously still feeling the effects of her cute-killing effort against Hirose. Alvent and Hendra AG could have won their match against Mads and BC forummer Jonas Rasmussen. But they failed to capitalize on game 1, used too much energy in game 2, and lost their way in game 3 before coming back to a strong finish just too late. Gade vs Simon was probably the most interesting match, although quite uneven in pattern. Simon still gave too much respect to Gade, which was capitalized into a huge lead in game 1. And although Simon came back to the game, Gade had enough measure to take it home, take a breather in game 2 and then finish off in game 3. And not even coach Wong Tat Meng could do anything about it. Saina and Wang Shixian had it easy in their matches, with Saina benefiting from Yippy's retirement. The other 2 Wangs had to undergo heavy weather before subduing their opponents. And as I expected, Schenk got the better of JYJ, applying almost similar pattern of Gade. Tao Jiaming and Tian Qing worked very hard against the polished Polish pair, and it was only their longevity on court that gave the edge on the final 3rd of the 3rd, game that is. In contract, Cai Yun/Fu Haifeng and Miyuki Maeda/Satoko Suetsuna used their experience to subdue their opponents respectively, also in 3 games. Slow starter Sho Sasaki lived up to his billing. After getting whacked by Du Pengyu in game 1, he just managed to stay in game 2. DPY was perhaps guilty of celebrating too early at matchpoint. Once Sasaki pocketed game 2, the rest of the match was a foregone conclusion. Ajay Jayaram played creditably well against the defending champion Chen Jin, until the interval of game 3, that is. From 0-5 down, he still managed to take game 1. But lack of experience cost him dearly in the 3rd when after being at 11-10 in the interval, he managed to make a total mess of things and Chen romped home 11 pts in a row ........ And no, it was not tiredness on Jayaram's part. Koo and Tan played reasonably well against Harry Potter and LYL. But the game was made easy by the number of mistakes made by LYL ...... obviously Harry Potter forgot to use magic to boost his partner's skills at fast drives. The Malaysians' opponents today was more impressive. Although against fellow countrymen, KSH/YYS really showed good defensive angles throughout the match and only drop more points out of respect to their teammates. It was nice to see Ashwini Ponnappa feature in her first WC quarterfinal. Although it must be said, they made heavy weather of their match, just scraping it home on their last matchpoint. A bit of consolation for Jwala Gutta after having been soundly thrashed in the mixed doubles. But the match that really captivated the Russian binoculars involved pretty Russian girls against cute Mizuki Fujii and Reika Kakiiwa. The Japanese cuties had to work overtime yet again to overcome their prettier opposition. As for the weather, it was raining in the afternoon and there were no riots in sight. But on the downside, attendance figures yesterday was very low. Yup, lower than even the All-England in March. Must be the aftermath of the riots taking effect.
...or the fact that most people were reaching for the bubbly in premature celebration of the Strauss/Cook/KP knockout.
Guys guys, there is a difference between a talented player and a great player. Kevin and LCW are not in the same category, at least not now yet. LCW is in a different class altogether.
