2011 Swiss Open GPG: Day 4 Friday 18-March (Quarter-Finals)

Next up on Court 1, Ha Jung Eun/Kim Min Jung vs. Shizuka Matsuo/Mami Naito [7]. The Japanese are ranked 10th in the world, while the Koreans are ranked 28th. However, the head to head record is 3-0 in favor of the Koreans, with the last victory registered at the 2011 German Open.

So many "new" Koreans I don't even know who is who :p Got this one mixed up with the loudmouth Bae Sung Hee :D Should have PAWed :(

I PAWed Tai Tzu Ying for some reason :p It was 10 points either way, so I went with the one I was gonna root for. Now I get nothing.

She's shorter and about 6 years older. Bae Youn Joo is the darker baby-faced one .
Sung Ji Hyun seems to have gotten her energy back. She was looking lethargic for some months.

I was going to put in a last second PAW on the korean WD after watching the warmup on court 2 but I've already picked enough and only picked "sure" ones ... Wasn't sure who I saw in the German Open but looks like one of them is in the pairing this time around :D

You replied too quickly before I could add baby-faced . Bae Youn Joo isn't THAT tall, LOL.

I might be wrong, but I think it's Court 1, not Court 2. Courts 1&2 on the swissopen website = Court 1 on TS, while Courts 3&4 = Court 2, from different angles.

Anyway, this KOR WD pair defeated this JPN pair at the German Open.

Up next on Court 2, Lindaweni Fanetri vs. Bae Youn Joo [4]. The Korean is ranked 9th in the world, while the Indonesian is ranked 38th. They have never faced each other in a tournament before.

Go Linda!

Haha was just thinking something wasn't right there. Ji Hyun v Youn Joo is a tonguetwister all by itself already
Guess you could call it Sung vs Seung ;)

Yes "Court 1" = "Court 2" cam and actual Court 2 at the start (of the tournament) ...

They will face Christinna Pedersen/Kamilla Rytter Juhl [5] in the Semifinals.

Up next on Court 1, Jang Ye Na/Kim Min Seo vs. Meiliana Jauhari/Greysia Polii [2]. The Indonesians are ranked 8th in the world, while the Koreans are ranked 114th. They have never faced each other in a tournament before.

Go Meiliana/Greysia!

Up next on Court 2, Hsieh Pie Chen/Wang Pei Rong vs. Jung Kyung Eun/Kim Ha Na. The TPE pair is ranked 26th in the world, while for the Koreans it's the first tournament they compete in as a pair.
