2nd seed Yao Jie of the Netherlands had a straightforward match against Chloe Magee of Ireland, 21-11 21-16.
She has a pretty easy match in the semis, too, and should be a shoo-in for the finals! :)

meanwhile, Karina and Kristina are slugging it out, one game apiece and Karina up 2-0 in the rubber. But my money's on Kristina...

HHY has put light between himself and PW in the rubber; he leads 17-12. is it the end of the road for PW?

Yup. Hsueh Hsuan Yi of Taiwan shuts out Przemyslaw Wacha of Poland, 19-21, 21-19, 21-14 in what was probably a tight game.
    HHY - PW stats:
    Smash winners: 32-20
    Net winners: 18-16
Clear winners: 11-18 (distinct difference in styles?)

Wow!!! Eric Pang wins a nail-biter and takes out top seed Ajay Jayaram in the quarter-finals!!!
    21-11, 22-24, 24-22

Ajay saved match points in the second and third game, but Eric hung in there and eventually came out ahead in the final game.

Huge upset for Ajay. Eric's smashes made the difference, 25 winners to Ajay's 14, and it looks like Ajay made a lot of more errors on his game as well.

Eric will be up against unseeded Tien Chen Chou of Taiwan, who also had a gruelling 3-game match today against the other Indian, Arvind Bhat. On par, it would seem Eric can progress to the finals.
