As I see our member # is growing everyday( near 4K), I guess we will hit 200K very quickly, possibly by the end of this year
Maybe the BF T-shirt really plays a huge role in "recruiting new members". Personally, many local club members copied down the website name, and claimed that they either registered or visited as a guest recently.
yes. BF has been known for the quality of our postings. however, as the number of member grows, we find it more and more difficult to keep the quality of the post high. we have raised the awareness before in the "Insensible Postings" thread. hopefully we can keep the quality level as we grow even more. but you are right, it is an issue but i think the majority of the members are doing fine.
it is not possible. we simply cannot afford it. BF runs on very low budget unfortunately. so we rely on words of mouth. if anybody wants to help out, you can do two things: 1. tell your friends 2. if you have a webpage/blog/whatever, put a link to BC (www.badmintoncentral.com), we are pretty high on Google now but the ranking fluctuates. would be nice if we have a solid position in Google. that surely will help our popularity a lot. 3. keep coming back to visit BF and make quality postings. it is the high quality posting that attract ppl.
Perhaps organise a 'round the world' badminton trip? Play in a badminton club in every city, every country...a little too adventurous...and perhaps a little too costly, hehe I do wonder though, how many fanatics would take this suggestion up if they are able to afford it?
Congrats! To Kwun and All moderators, Congratulations! A great achievement - you are doing a great job for global badminton promotion. Keep up the good work!
Too late ... I'm guilty. Maybe I'll get a marker and qualify on the T-shirt: "The play level of the individual wearing this BF T-shirt in no way reflects the quality of BadmintonCentral/BadmintonForum. And if correlation needs to be extracted, it is a negative correlation." -dave
congrats to kwun mag and cheung!!! i think we'll be able to hit 4000 members in less than 2 months time.. or even one whoops, that was a bit off-topic
Lol... if u need that... I don't know what I should put on my BF shirts. At least, I made it up by giving away several BF shirts as gifts to my friends, who are much much better than me.
wow by searching badminton in google, BC is the second result. right behind worldbadminton.com thats awesome.
I've been reading a lot on BC.com. It's a great site hands down. Thanks Kwun for developing this site. 180 000 posts eh. thats a good acomplishment. congrats. But there is a down side to the influx of new members. For BC.com, it may not be a problem now. It might however become one in the future. With more members comes more insensible posts. I say this with experience. I'm registered at another forum, 48th largest on the internet, I've been there for a couple of years now. Back when i first registered it consisted of a couple thousand people, we discussed very interesting topics and posted with common sense. Over the past year or two the amount of members grew to 75 000 with over 4 000 000 posts. Most of the veteran members left because of the unintelligent and stupid posts and threads. I now rarely go there because of the number of nonsense topics and posts. I'm not discouraging new members to join BC.com. I'm encouraging them to join and to promote badminton and BC.com. I'm just warning you what might happen here as at the other forum above. I myself love badminton and play and compete as much as I can. So Kwun please don't let this forum go down the drain like some other forums. I like this forum because it has that small community feeling where everybody knows each other. This all seems weird coming out of a mouth of a 14 year-old.
Somedude, i very much appreciate your concern about growth and i wholeheartedly agree with you that when a community grows, there is a potential of losing quality. many of the regular member knows that we value quality more than quantity here. we have in the past discouraged insensible posts and we always try to make sure that discussions don't get off course into the wild. so you have my word that we will make sure BC always put quality first and we will not allow the forum to become a trashland like some websites do. ps. sometimes maturity doesn't have anything to do with age.
